american skin here i was a skin from 1990 and hung out till 2003 i laced up 14 hole boots for a long time,i moved away from where all the pubs and taverns and it was too far to drink and drive so i had to quit hanging out, plus my best friend screwed me over,we were a horrible group of skins i liked ska and there were some that did but most liked oi and i didnt really care for it,but anyways after being a skin that long it never leaves your heart you know.we used to have order our shirts from the merc in london way back then and now here in the states god the prices on everything is pathetic due to a piece of crap liberal president, but the 80's and 90's were the best times ever, the computer came along and destroyed this planet and cell phones with video well that destroyed everything i used to love to fight and win but you cant do that these days people video and show it to the damn police,so yea im still pissed as always,i took being a skin serious,if i saw a fresh cut i would test im out,so many new people would show up like it was ok but not to me and some were skins one week then punks the next and still wearing braces umm HELL NO i jumped down their throat over that, till this day if i see someone in a fred thats not a skin i get mad.yes i was known as the mean asshole skinhead of the bunch i liked to fight, there were times when i was fighting a crowd and i looked and saw people in my crew just standing there, pshhh thats not acceptable to me one bit,so call me an asshole at least i took it serious and always will even though i dont hang out and drink anymore.cheers

the govt had destroyed everything, the youth needed something to call thiers, sometimes it was musical, sometimes whimsical, sometimes just violent. but we were skins......and it was magical......a group that embodied not just mususic byt culture of the time......the thatcher govt created the monster that bacame beautiful and didnt divide people it united them against a common enemy...........the establishment.......now we are seen as cultarly significant, and youths of today dress like us....i still dress the same, only moire stylish.

What I remember about the early Skinhead generation '68/72 was just how young most of them were. Mainly all around 10 to 16 year old working class lads. In those days as son as you left school (& youth clubs) then you would have to dress appropriately for work or change style because you was getting married!!!

late 70's early 80's they got along with many mixed bands, half punks and half skins so called Skunx, bands like Blitz, Anti Social, Attak, Ejected, Crux, Infa Riot, Violators and many more had both punks and skins followers. Earlier bands Like Sham 69, Menace, Angelic Upstarts, Cock Sparrer and Cockney were originally punk rock bands with Skinehads following, but no Skinhead outlook. By 1983 /1984 the two scenes split apart because politic issues had become heavy influential, so no more shows with both punk/hardcore and OI! bands on the same bill. Also bands like Exploited, One Way System, Peter & The Test Tube Babies were considered almost OI! bands, then you had the Crust Anarcho Punks scene of the like of Crass, Amebix, Conflict...another thing...

My uncle and his gang use to beat up skinheads for fun, they eventually grew their hair and the “baldie bashing” stopped because there was no skinheads to beat up, most grew their hair back out of fear of attacks.

The song is by The Disrupters, an early 80's Punk band. Skinheads didn't have their own music in 68-73 as you probably remember. it wasn't til the late 70's that Skinheads formed their own bands and started to have their own music.

@@wolflarson6831 Early Slade attempted to be a 'recognised Skinhead band' but it wasn't accepted by the media at the time. In a way you are right about Skinheads not owning their own music preferring to listen to mainly Jamaican/reggae sound instead. There were song's referencing skinheads in '69.
