The swim suits they used in 2008/2009 were eventually banned and all times set using them were deleted (well, had an asterisk put beside them to denote that the records wouldn't stand as legitimate WRs). I remember it was the world championship in Rome? Every swim was basically a world record. They were dropping time like mad. It was quite ridiculous really. At this point the suits had gotten so extreme they were basically "single use" neoprene body gloves, affording amazing compression, buoyancy and hydro-dynamics. The suits were effectively like "mechanical doping" in cycling. So FINA decided after that that suits could only be constructed of textile materials and not synthetic like neoprenes. That is why you now also see the little FINA QR code on suits to show they've been OK'd. After the ban came to force times slowed considerably and it took quite a while before people started going as fast again.

@@guillerman20 are they? At the very least these times are noted aren't they? So people know they're basically not "true" even if they're still in the books. I was just reading about the event again... 43 WRs and out of 40 events, CRs in 38 of them. Also Paul Biedermann doing in 12 months what took Phelps 5years in the 200m. Totally bananas!

@@0tispunkm3y3r the reference point is a performance that is not in the books at all, so yes they are valid. efimova broke the scm 200 breast wr in december 2014, and it was rescinded a few months later because of a positive test. this has never happened to a supersuit record. hell, the 200 breast wr was reverted to rebecca soni's time set in a supersuit

Vidi in diretta sia la squalifica del giorno prima, sia questa gara. Per lei fu un bel riscatto ma anche per noi da casa fu una bella goduria.

Ganar medallas y batir records son cosas increíbles.pero yo también respeto mucho a los 8 finalistas.ya estar ahí no es para cualquiera.por eso Phelps y Pellegrini son mis nadadores referentes .ellos son los únicos en el mundo que corrieron 5 finales olimpicas en 5 juegos diferentes y en la misma categoría

Io al posto della Pellegrini chiamerei il Giudice che l ha eliminata in giudizio per far fronte a i milioni non potuti incassare per le mancate pubblicità visto che la Pellegrini è un personaggio anche pubblicitario e con vari Sponson. No chance - Leveaux's split in this race (19.93) converts to 17.95 for 50y free, Bousquet's [19.87] converts to 17.90. Nobody in NCAA history (with the exception of Cielo and Adrian) has gotten anywhere close to this.
