CORRECTION: The 2014 play is incorrect. Lamar Miller has 2 career 97 yard runs. The 2014 one that should be in this video is from when he was with the Dolphins against the Jets week 17. The Texans clip I put in this video for Miller going 97 yards is from 2018, the year Derrick Henry went 99 yards. I probably should delete and reupload with the correct clip replacing it, but I'll just leave this correction comment instead for now.

Fun fact: 1972's 98 yard catch by Ahmad Rashad (his name in the video is Bobby Moore, from before he converted to Islam and changed his name to Ahmad Rashad and played the rest of his career under his Islamic name) was easily the longest non scoring play in NFL history, starting from the Cardinal's 1 yard line, and ending at the LA Ram's 1 yard line. The second longest non scoring play was 96 yards by Walter Roberts in 1967, and Vincent Jackson's 2012 95 yard catch you see in this video is actually the third longest non scoring play in NFL history, Marcus Allen (1984) and Derrick Alexander (1997) are both in this video tied for fifth longest, and Quez Watkins 2021 catch to start the video the 8th longest non scoring play in NFL history.

Fun Fact: since 1965, WR Michael Haynes (1992 and 1993) is the only ball carrier to have the longest play of the year in back to back years. Cliff Branch (1976 and 1983) is the only other player to have more than one longest play. Eli Manning (2010 and 2011) is the only QB to throw for the longest play of the year in back to back years (2010 and 2011). Billy Kilmer (1967 and 1975) and Craig Morton (1970 and 1981) are the only other QBs to throw more than one.

Fun fact: of these longest plays of the year, 52 are pass plays, 10 are rushing plays. 48 are by WRs, 12 by RBs, and 2 by TEs. Shoutout to Rich Caster (1974) and Emery Moorehead (1986) for being the two TEs that managed to rumble for the longest play of the year.
