While the Uncle Dave meeting was funny (and credit to both Eddie Murphy and Alan Young), I don’t think this is a very good scene overall. It was a copy of the reunion scene between Axel and Mikey in the first movie, and it was only here for cheap tension and cheap humor. In the original, it works because it’s an introduction to Mikey’s character. He breaks into Axel’s apartment (which is illegal and shows that he has experience as a criminal, and it also shows how low on money Axel is as he can’t afford a decent door lock), it shows how cautious Axel is as not only do police officers have to use their heads to solve crimes, but they need to be good in the field too. Axel didn’t do the rookie thing and barge in and give himself away, he crept in slowly and ready for a fight, and he’s brave to do that too, so brave and cautious, and experienced too as a detective. And the tension makes sense too due to Mikey being a criminal and not paying Axel a visit in six months, so it works. Here, it’s just for cheap entertainment. There’s no need for tension in this scene as Axel is just going to meet Uncle Dave, and we already know how brave, cautious and experienced Axel is, and the false alarm thing is just cheap too. And why would Uncle Dave react with a warm smile upon seeing a man pointing a gun at him? Some might say that Uncle Dave was brave and knew Axel wouldn’t shoot him, but the movie doesn’t acknowledge that this is part of his character and these traits don’t affect anything in the movie either, so it makes him look like he lacks common sense. I do like how Axel follows cop procedure and says “Freeze” but adds his own touch at the end by calling the guy “motherfucker”. Nice blend of his police training and his personality. One possible plot hole could be that Axel doesn’t know how many men are in there and yelling could give him away, but he could still use the man as a shield against them like with DeWald. Also, Axel says “Hey!” in the original in comparison to this. Saying “Freeze” in this situation can show off you being police whereas in the other not so much. However, I’ll need to read more into this part. “Beverly Hills Cop III” was a really bad movie, so I hope that “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” does better, and I mean a lot better.

You have a great knowledge of the historical waterways associated with this site. Do all the reservoirs link up via culverts or are some entirely land locked?
@dailyraillive14923 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes, the resivoirs are, connected via a gravity fed tunnel. That's why some of the carp escaped and were found upstream! There's another tunnel 19 miles long from Hampton, again gravity fed from the Thames. Thanks for the comment.

I never knew what a ''Dry riser' was, but seen them [the red inlet with the flame logo] a lot. Seems they flood the floors when pumped full of water.. Why did Grenfell NOT have a Dry riser??

It did.

@@dailyraillive1492 Why on earth wasn't it used???Was it faulty?
@richieallen23873 жыл бұрын
@@Oakleaf700 It did have a dry riser but it wasn't maintained and when required, it didn't function. To another question raised, yes the fire brigade connect at the inlet valve and turn on the water. This pipe (dry riser) is no longer dry, As there is water in the whole pipe. On each floor, there is an outlet and if for example, there is a fire on the 10th floor, the firemen will run up to that floor and connect their own hose to the outlet ( called a landing valve). And no, the whole building or floor doesn't get flooded, unless the firemen wish it to. By having this dry riser, it could potentially save the firemen hours in not having to run hoses up the stair core. Hope this helps.
