I find most country songs about heartache to be really shallow and cheesy (as long as you are talking about top 40, anyways) but DANG this song brought me to TEARS. Being a woman is damn near impossible, everyone wants you to be something other than what you are and if you are able to meet those expectations they will still hate you for it. That is a million times harder for black women, and a million times harder still if you are trying to break into the entertainment industry. I have been listening to black country artists for a long time that no one ever took seriously until Beyonce came and did it, and I have mixed feelings about that. But I hope this woman, and others, get some traction now as youtube and spotify seem to pushing these types of artists and that is a positive thing. I found this song today, and it is heartbreaking and beautiful and getting me all in my feels and I relate heavily to it though I am not an entertainer.
