Nice editing! And thank you including the deleted scene of coffee shop and winning the bet! They really should’ve kept both of them. Now this video should be passed to all Barney and Robin fans not to mention that small Tracy cult following that failed to pay attention to the small details the writers placed. He didn’t want perfect, he just wanted Robin.

Many didn't understand the ending and saying that it has been rushing especially on Tracy death and robin-barney divorce. So they thought like a fan disservice as the story has been build up so long for these two. However, that's because they see it from the audience perspective not as Ted's children perspective. Both children already know about their mother death, know who is their mother, know a little bit about auntie Robbin, marshall, lily and Barney even b4 the stories started in season 1 presumably due Ted meeting with robin. But the most important, the children already knows how much their father loves their mother so much, and that has been estasblished to them. Therefore, when Ted 'badly' wrapping up the stories to their children, then the children already know something fishy here and Catch it immediately because they know their father is a very good storyteller. This is also one of the main reason that I think why the director decided to not included the scene of Robin and Ted in the cafe in which Robin accidenly admitted she still love about Ted as that does not make sense to tell the kids in the stories especially in the ending. And that's why the ending of HIMYM, the one that people hate, is the best
@thmhenson2 жыл бұрын
This was perfect. When I was younger, in my twenties, I did not like the ending. Now years later I understand it. It would have made a lot more sense if the ending was not so rushed. Ted loved Tracy, there was no doubt she was the one for him. He loved her, in a wholesome, complete, trusting way with which he never loved Robin. It was a completely different, mature kind of love. That was why he did not scare her off with some big romantic gesture unlike the previous romantic encounters he had, because he had faith, he knew that it will all work out. He did not feel the need to try to "get" the girl, he felt just needed to trust things. Being with Tracy made him truly happy, being with Robin stroked his ego more than made him happy, ego of finally landing the dream girl, not being with someone who loves him and whom he loves. It was the right kind of love that was meant to be for him all along. He met her, because he finally let Robin go, and became someone who accepts that he cannot force things. That is maturity. With Robin, he could never completely trust her feelings. Robin, with her father issues, had a tendency to hold love back from a man. That is why it is always easier for her to leave than to stay in any relationship. Subconsciously, her father issues were sabotaging her relationships. Ted was always frustrated, anxious, pressured because there was always this feeling that she was going to dump him. Their love was fraught with immaturity and insecurity. It was not the love where he was even thinking of marrying the girl, he was only thinking of marriage. It was a love which forces Robin to be someone she is not, and Ted to feel frustrated with her lack of commitment. At that time, they weren't right for each other. But Tracy died. And with her death he and Robin reconnected (dinners, his kids call her Aunt Robin, she was probably kind of an aunt/mother figure to them as seen in their drawings). By this time they had become completely different people. Their friendship was a lot closer, a lot more renewed, a lot more personal, a lot more mature, and that solved the problem of why they did not work before - they weren't friends, she was just a girl he wanted, in some ways that can mess up how he sees her as a person. This time their relationship as friends is more matured. Robin had grown up and realised what she had missed out on with Ted, had finally accepted that she needed a man in her life, and was in a better place to settle down. This time she didn't see Ted as her backup deal, or her safety school, or the guy who was endlessly crazy for her. She had gone through accepting that Ted was not for her, she had let Ted go. Even though she had feelings she did not force them on him no matter how much she was hurting, even after Tracy died she holds back from expressing her feelings for Ted. She accepted her mistakes, was humbled by them, was no longer so self-absorbed, decided to make the best of her life alone with her career which is obviously no longer enough to make her happy. She grew up and matured. In letting Ted go and accepting things as they are and having the courage to embrace everything that her mistakes costed her, she grew up and finally earned (for herself) the love that she deserved right from the start, the love that she was meant for but not ready for. It is a new love for two people that are different versions of themselves, and as their new "doppelgangers" they now fit into each other. They fall in love with mature, grown-up versions of themselves who know each other better than anyone can. It made perfect sense. Their story is a totally different story from how ted met the mother, a new one story. The reason why it is so hard to buy into it was because the ending was so rushed. There was that missing chapter of Ted and Robin's renewed friendship after the Tracy's death. The chapters where Robin chose to stay away from the gang and focus on her life, where she was haunted by the mistakes she made, where her career was no longer enough to make her happy, where she finally faces her feelings that her chosen singlehood and career, the more masculine way with which she portrays herself, even her lack of commitment in relationships, her constant preference to be an "I" rather than a "we", was an escape from the fear of intimacy caused by her father. It was trauma speaking, trauma winning overtime, until now. Now she faces that much like everyone else, she craved real connection, craved intimacy with a man, and this time becomes what Ted was all along - someone who is honest with it and will work for it. I hated how Robin was often being treated as a side character, a chick that Ted and Barney are fighting about, occasionally a lesbian dream for Lily, but her portrayal really is shallow and two dimensional (for me anyway). But beneath that cartoonish, boyish exterior is a woman who was suffering from a lot of hurt. When your pain is caused by your parents, there is simply no place for that pain but them, but in your heart, your relationship with them as parents takes precedence over that. No matter how much they dragged you through the gutter, in the end, their approval will be the one thing that can truly make you happy. Tracy knew Ted won't be able to live without love. He was a hopeless romantic, but more than that, he was a person who always had a lot of love to give and was always looking for a place for that love. It was not a question of tracy vs robin, because the moment Tracy appeared she was the only one there all along. It was question of where would all that love go after her death. Robin, knew and loved Ted's kids, knew and loved Ted. She was the only one that made sense to end up with. It was a brilliant ending, it was where the character development happened and was headed all along. You could feel destiny playing with the puzzle pieces and having a hand in it. It was brilliant, perfect and real, only the telling failed to earn it.

Despite their timing and differences, Ted demonstrated the four loves for Robin. She was more messed due to coming from dysfunctional family. Come to think of it, with the exception to Marshall, they all came from dysfunctional families. Still, Barney mocked Ted for doing a rain dance to stop Robin from going to camping with her boss. This is known as unconditional love. Something Barney did not show. Read The four loves by CS Lewis for a better explanation.
@barney40532 жыл бұрын
It was opposite for me. When i was younger, i didn't liked the ending but now i hate it even more. They literally tried to say that "nice guys" finish lasts. The obsession and creepiness' of Ted was shown as some Romantic gestures like the rain dance was his obsession even after Robin rejected him like 5 times during the show. The most unrealistic part is that Robin who had no interest in Ted after s2 knowing the difference in ideologies and fundamentals of love would long for ted after her successful career. But no the protagonist had to end with a girl whom he saw first! Like really!!! They had zero chemistry and never meant to be. Robin had to become a submissive character and deal with idealist wife fantasy of Ted. Barney on the other hand never judged her and liked her independence. He was always supportive of her. As they were the most broken people of the group and had similar interest, They completed each other in their own way. Barney and Robin were made a soulmates with that slow buildup romance between them. I'm glad that they fixed their terrible ending with the alternate ending where Barney and Robin got back together and Ted is with Tracy.

Thanks for the write up. You are correct. It takes experiencing life and understanding the differences in character, timing, life phases etc to understand and love the ending. One thing people don't get, I guess in part from the "rushed" ness of it all at the end is that, when you look at it, between the first blue french horn and the last one, literally about 25 years have passed. Gone from being 27 to being in their 50's. That phase of life isn't about romance and drama, it is about companionship and care. They have always had that, but their differences were too much in the young days.

HIMYM since season 3 to 9 (except the last two ep) has major focus on Barney instead of Ted (*major focus salute), that's why many people didn't agree with the ending (because they like Barney than Ted). But I saw a lot of about Ted and Robin like a puzzle in the show that not many people didn't realize it. This is why I love the ending and was just hoping to continue at least one more season for the real finale to saw how Ted and Robin is happy together with Ted's kids. I love them together.
