I think i found one in a neighbors yard. It's half over the sidewalk. I tasted it after watching the seed pod /drums grow a d google Said it was and it tastes like kale. Is that a winter thing. It's been 50 or below at night here in Florida for weeks. I only got a slight bitter in the back of my throat.

Hello from Australia 🇦🇺😊🙋🏽♀️ All Australian natives cannot tolerate phosphorus, so always use a specific potting mix and fertiliser. Osmocote makes great products. Or Neutrog. I’ve just grown a heap of trees from seed. Get some macadamias, and just lay the nuts on the surface of a pot of soil, cover with more soil, then water and wait. Keep moist and do this in summer, and before you know it, you’ll have a pot of baby plants. Pot them up into native potting mix, and plant out when ready 😊🙋🏽♀️💚🇦🇺

I just picked up a 7g one. Is there any specific soil amendments/fertilizer or soil pH they prefer or do you recommend? And how about water demands are they heavy waterers in containers like figs or jaboticaba or less water like mangoes and avocados? Awesome page and content, subscribed

@Pepesplants some wild papaya trees grew everywhere in my yard they don't taste that great so I throw them around the truck as a fertilizer. And when it's flowering the fruit flies flying around from the rotting papaya seem to help with the flowers to pollinate

Why would you throw it away ?
@Pepesplants27 күн бұрын
NOTE: Why did you cut down the moringa tree? I have to keep answering this question so here we go again. The tree was planted in a wet location. The root system became weak and growth was declining. The tree also became infested with termites. Finally, these trees are often grown as annuals. Many people grow them for one year and harvest leaves and pods. They then replant them from seeds. Some also use five foot thick branches that root in the ground. I would have let the tree grow if it was healthy. I currently have another tree that is two years old just 12 feet away and it is 25 foot tall.

Why don't you try hand pollinating more of those abundant flowers to get a larger yield? I would be out there with a ladder and paintbrush doing that if the fruit was that good!

OK I watched the video, and Im only guessing as Im not as experienced as others here... but it sounds to me like the tree has been in recovery, having been somewhat artificially dwarfed through being in a small container, and then from nearly dying. So the new vigorous growth is sapping all its energy to "spread its wings" or limbs, so to speak. Given the expenditure of energy put toward that growth spurt my guess is that it didn't have as much energy left to make and keep a large fruit set but maybe try one more year with cross pollination to see if that theory may be true? I would hate for that tree to get dug up and retraumatized! But then again, my livelihood doesn't depend on my trees so I can understand your dilemma is more acute.

I can relate to that for sure. That's why I made this video. Many people are not aware of how little the butterscotch produces or at least in the early years. Maybe as it matures it improves in productivity.

They are amazing plants. Fun little fruit that turns sour food sweet. Most chemo treated persons find that it does help restore sense of taste. My wife who had a bad case of covid 19 a few years ago completely lost her sense of smell and taste. Sadly the berries do not seem to help her. Brest wishes and thank you for commenting. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Very well done, what do you feed the main plant? My plant is 5-10 years old but it’s the same size I planted it from day 1 from the pot, the leaves are tiny. It does produce 5-10 fruits per yesr
@PepesplantsАй бұрын
I use a potting mix with 30% peat moss blended in for an acidic pH. They need it. I then use a time release fertilizer three times a year. 18-6-8 by Florikan or you could use Osmocote but be careful if it gets very wet Osmocote could overfertilize and burn. That's why Florikan is better. Less likely to release fertilizer all at once in my experience. Also grow in bright light not full sun as it stresses them out too much.
@organicgrow4440Ай бұрын
@ thank you very much, I do have some pest moss I could add, also I haven’t really watered it as it was alone at the end of the yard, we’ve just extended the garden around it so it will get some more water than usual this summer.

We Brazilians don’t say cup when you said that here in the US we refer as a vase! You probably heard the word copa which means tree top and thought they said copo which is a cup! And they do refer the tree top as a vase (vaso) to let the light get in!

Same issue here with my Butterscotch. Going on four years old and has never set fruit despite continuously flowering. I have several different varieties in close proximity with fruit so cross pollination doesn't seem to be making any difference as of yet. I have heard several other growers say that with maturity it will gradually start setting fruit. I visit a local nursery that has several older butterscotch in the ground yet I never see many fruits on them. A few here and there but definitely nothing compared to other varieties. I'm giving mine another year or two before I dig it up any give it away. I'm limited on space so from personal experience and many on the internet saying the same it's looking like my butterscotch is not worth the hype. Unfortunate, because they are damn good!
