Nowhere in this video's description is mentioned even once that "the Shining Path" was , and for most peruvians still is, except for extreme leftists, a terrorist organization which plotted the killings of tens of thousands of the most needy and defenseless in the Peruvian society of the late 1970's, all the 1980's and the early nineties. Such major omission represents a shameful and on purpose strategy to try to tone down the terrorist activities of Sendero Luminoso, also known as the Shinning Path. Its worth mentioning the fact that Peru is one of the few countries in LaTam which fought and won the fight against terrorism embodied by terrorist organizations such as the "Shining Path" alongside another terrorist cell known as the MRTA. There is still some terrorist activity in the area located in the inner Peruvian jungle known as Vraem, but these few terrorists are also drug traffickers for the Colombian and Mexican cartels, which is how they get their money in order to conduct local attacks against poor civilians living in the Vraem area, thus still killing innocent peruvians and the military personnel patrolling the area.

Shining Path was as evil as the Pol Pot in Cambodia. Fujimori was a fascist getting rid of another emerging fascism. The democracy failed to destroy SP. Belaunde was a pacifist as dumb as Carter dealing with Iran and Garcia was a smart naive hippie who like Obama came to power with "HOPE" and did nothing. Peru and USA need a strong hard line democratic government, that is the reason why people endorsed Fujimori at the beginning and that is the same reason why many Americans endorse Trump today except the American people are not lambs and ignorant like the Peruvians to tolerate a dictator and Trump is not stupid to take the road because he knows he would fail. For all the above, vote for Trump is the best choice today because Biden is Belaunde

No hay manera de escuchar y entender porque masacraron tantos campesinos. El senderismo fracasó porque gracias a Dios no estaban bien organizados y carecieron de apoyo armamentistico y monetario. Su discurso ideológico es enredado , desubicado para estos tiempos en que la gente no quiere violencia . Sendero al contrario de lo que buscaba solo benefició a esa bola que decía combatir, gastos militares clasificados como secretos por seguridad del pais que fueron a terminar a los bolsillos de fujimori y montesinos y cada ministro que firmaba la resolución. El comunismo no es para el Perú, el comunismo carece de aceptación en la gente común por eso los campesinos formaron sus rondas. No más Sendero, si a las protestas pero no a la violencia y vandalismo

Que curioso según Gavilán pareciera que Sendero fue un grupo de pobres luchadores sociales que combatían las desigualdades, pero ¿y las decenas de miles de víctimas que asesinó Sendero? Además SL no fue una guerrilla ni sus integrantes guerrilleros, fue un grupo terrorista y sus integrantes terroristas.

A very big thank to the Professor to bring the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils of Indian Origin in Sri Lanka to the international stage. The Government nationalized the tea estates in early 70’s and privatized in the 90’s is only error I heard. Both Indian and Sri Lankan Governments have forgotten about these people who chose stay in SL.

I love this presentation. In particular, the visual representations challenge with me deeply. As a white, cis male, the contents challenge me to see how the world would be through the eyes and hearts of others. For example, a feminist design curriculum makes me realize how male-centric every course I've ever taken, has been. In my experience, women perform most of the world's labour inside and outside the house. How could I have ever assumed that design only happens in environments where men tend to be dominant? I understand that there is a complete universe of knowledge that I am missing...and that I would be richer for knowing all these things. Thank you, Dr. Noel.
