Hello, can you tell me if this product is OK for underground? Thanks in advance
@advancedheatingandaircondi2004
@advancedheatingandaircondi2004 3 ай бұрын
No. This product is not suited for direct earth contact. Meaning you should not bury it directly. If you need to go underground with it, it should go through a conduit. I recommend visiting the manufacturers website for additional details.

You must be careful when cutting the sleeve so that thin stainless doesn’t get scored by the knife blade creating a weak point

Agreed. Thank you for mentioning that. There are several updates and corrections I would make to the video.

Cut 4 rings back and your hood to go👍🏻 this is way to in depth should’ve only been a quick 5 min job explaining why only 4 rings back as my boss did when I was learning.

You're not supposed to see the stainless steel when the nut is installed and two adjustable crescents are better to tighten the nuts
@markk8225
@markk8225 Жыл бұрын
You should not see the stainless steel using the newer SnapTite fittings. He's using the older flare fitting, which should leave stainless exposed.

Doesn't anyone use the proper wrenches instead of butchering the fittings.

his instructions are suspect. he is not completely wrong. since natural gas is very dangerous. please know the exact engineering requirements. here are the manufacturer's specifications. table 4-4 page 28 of the trac pipe manual, the december 2016, edition, the fgp-fst-500 1/2" fitting, shown in this video, requires 42 ft lb of torque. pressure test all fittings. complacency is a killer. on brass fittings use adjustable wrenches. the teeth on the wrenches he is using will tear into the brass. proper torque and pressure testing will not only save yourself but your neighbors and community as well.

"Adjustable wrenches"... .. "42ft lbs." You must be using those mythical adjustables with a torque indicator! :-) Being shown it is *Approximately* 1 full turn is way more usable advice in practice.

They actually do make adjustable wrenches that give torque readings, but if you need one to not blow your neighbors house up, you shouldn’t be doing this anyway.
