I am currently using one of these antennas and I am making contacts all over the U.S. and various parts of the world. I have made contacts with Scotland, England, European countries, and South America, Australia, and Asia. I am only running 100 watts but I do live in a fairly high elevation. Maybe I am just lucky and maybe I should try a different antenna just to see what the difference might be. I have no connection to the manufacturer of this antenna.

this is not the correct way, so you are just attenuating all the signals without making any improvement to the SNR. The secondary antenna must be able to receive the interference (it works only on punctiform signals) and only in this way the second ADC is able to dephase and cancel.

So from your video, it sounds like you are not a fan of the Comet 250B antenna. At 4:22 into the video you hear the DX Expedition conversation. If I understand correctly the antenna on the bottom is the 250B antenna showing very little signal strength as compared to the top window\antenna. Is that correct ? I have a 250B antenna and I am not happy with it either.

How did they achieve the same tap in such a wide band in a directional coupler? Is there a strip line? And how is the compensation for the non-linearity of the frequency response done?

I have been getting the same problem, its just started only a year ago, only last for a few hours then goes off. But i think its only seen when i use my longwire, the a99 does not seem to be effected.

I am looking for a vertical antenna that is wide band and doesn't require tuning. This will go way up a tree. I was looking at the comet 250 until I found your review. Is there another vertical wide band antenna I should look at as well. I need wide band, and no need for tuner etc. Thanks Bob Olympia WA, USA

Hi, I have a question - my old Selena B-216 radio works in the OIRT range (65.8-74.0 MHz), like you show. I still catch some of the stations within (87.5-108 MHz), that are being "mirrored", but the volume is very low. I wonder - is the volume low because the stations are being "mirrored" or because there is a defect in my radio? When you listen to mirrored stations are just as loud as in the FM range or are they quiet?

I'm now back wanting to use my Flex 5000 for FT8. Your Virtual Audio Cable setup is easy to follow. But I don't understand how the ComOCom comes into play. I did not see how the serial ports are assigned in WSJTX program. Please explain how you did that?

Nigel, By the looks of the overall noise floor it looks like you are dropping the overall gain as well? Perhaps a signal generator on the input would be more useful so we can see the overall gain remains the same?

Nigel, what is the second noise source? I don't understand what youre calling it lol. I have that same noise. The power company has been out and cant find it, I shut off and disconnected everything in my house as well. But I have that SAME EXACT noise on the AM broadcast BAnd

So you are saying we need a duplicate or better antenna to have effective phase noise cancellation. Hmmm, I don't think I can fit another 70' tower with a 4 element yagi my lot.

Fascinating at 14:00 the audio of the station transmitting is definitely stronger and more legible on the flex compared to the anan. It was almost completely wiped out on the anan though the anan handled the strong signal better earlier in the vid. It's something I always look for and has been a source of frustration (icom 7300)on crowded bands during the big contests. Great vid and many thanks for posting! Maybe do one where you wind each receiver in tight to show how each one handles "bombastic" qrm. 73!

Stumbled on this video after having a late night chat with the software dev for flex. Both blow our 7300 away imo but not by much. Lol. Console is the dream for the 73. However , I’m impressed with the flex 5000 tx audio. He went out to 7k and damn nation. I still think the 5000 with dual rxers and the 200d are my fav rigs. Well the 101 blows their asses away. But for the $$$ , they’re 2 superb rigs. Seriously thinking of ditching the 73 and grabbing one of the two. Maybe? Maybe not. Lol

220 MHz in the US use to be allocated to Ham Radio. In 2020 US is going to try DAB & possibly eliminate our HD Radio as the costs very high to run them & not many radios made with HD & only a few auto manufactures have them.
