i really want to walk the silk road with a camel and a shade thing over me, and just go on for days. then set up camp somewhere safe, and do it again when i wake up. do any experts here know what walking the silk road was like for people back then? were there many inns for traders to stay in at night, or did they all have to bring bedrolls and such? did the silk road have markers or wood with ropes tied to them all to make a sort of path that people could follow? or did everyone rely on a compass to make sure they got to a destination?
