Two half hitches or a taught line hitch works and comes apart easy.

Who in the world came up with these knots. I can't follow them with a video.

He carved a stick to hold his puck and now he has no way to hold his stick. Go to harbor freight and buy a 4 sided diamond hone for $14 and a hot glue stick. Heat glue stick wirh lighter and apply to bottom of hone case. Glue wherever you wish. When you want to move it pull it up. The glue will hold it securely enough but it will pop free with little effort.

I get the lesson, but to be fair it was the wedges that split that log, not the hatchet

I use this method for putting tagline on steel beams to fly up to the homies connecting the beams. When I get a class of new apprentices this is my day one go to because when you are 200 feet in the air walking steel beams there is not time to untie a over hand knot not to mention that high up is the last place you want to drop you pocket knife. There is nothing more hilarious than pissed off journeyman climbing down to kick your ass for not know your knots. It could save a life or even yours one day. Proud union ironworker 263!

While in a pinch that might work...But it would almost be less effort to saw through. But to be fair..though... if I remembered to pack a Saw... a small/tiny hatchet should be right next to it.

I can't even imagine that accident. The mistake I've seen in film and KZbin is using the sharp edge of the knife.

I'd definitely have just used a bowline, since itll be faster than two overhand knots. Personally I keep some lines with loops already tied in one end, so I can use a larks head to attach (i actually useually just leave them attached to the corners of the tarp even if I don't need to use them for a particular pitch they're usually not in the way. My ridgeline is always ready with a loop in one end and 3 prusik loops along the line, 2 for the tarp with toggles on them and one to use as the loop for the truckers hitch at the tension end.

Bowline. There are others knots that work, but bowline is in my opinion best and easy, you can leave extra tails and redirect water in rain too.
