Hi- please kindly advise on whether you would buy something with this spec: 238,000 km on the clock £3,000 asking price 2003 Discovery 2 Partial service history - would you buy? (All things considered) - and how many kms/mi’s do the disco 2s typically run for until they die? Your help would be much appreciated 🙏

Hearing they have all those problemns, that can't be from normal usaage. Am i right? Are those problems due to using them in mud and offroad extensively as play tools and not as a daily driver at some farm.

From my experience it's more about how's it been cared for rather than usage. Even used as a daily driver if the chassis hasn't been washed when there's salt or on the road they tend to have rust issues or scrapped and cracked bumpers.

That actually is a Cooper. If it's not a Cooper, it would be a One... Anything over the base spec engine carries the Cooper name, and then S gets tacked on top of that with the Supercharged engines, and lastly JCW gets tacked on top of that all with the John Cooper Works upgrades.

I bought a 2002 Td5es in 2006. I still have it and it's run every single day. It's had every typical D2 fault over the years - Three amigos (several times) XYZ switch - 3 times Rear chassis leg repairs Fuel rail replaced. Front sunroof failed at 101000 miles Battery replace 3 times Roof rails reseal Headlining repair (they drop) Both front springs replace. ACE deleted (after numerous repairs) Tailgate stay seized. All ball joints / steering joints replaced Steering box (twice) Apart from that, these things are awesome - hang on to it if you have a nice one because prices will start to climb.

It's just the old plastic, when they go through heat cycle it can weaken then and then after a few years they become brittle and break

Sigh....been here and done this and miss it so about a decade ago. Mine was a black tourer with the alpina variant m20 block along with the limiter set too 8k. Its a 2.7 litre but left in the 2litre gearbox It was also stripped out and drove like a purists dream. We miss it so as we got married in it and even 0ur daughter "camaro" was conceived in that car.

"JCW instead of a Copper S"... erm... it is neither JCW nor Copper [sic]: it is a Cooper S with the optional JCW sport pack (visual update of bumpers, wheels etc. - not the actual JCW with higher performance)

I'm in Vermont.....one of the most land Rover worthy states.....I've had a 96 discovery and a 92 range Rover county. I'm obsessed....I can't stop looking at these vehicles. I'm. Perplexed cuz I want one of these to be a "practical" vehicle here in the states but everything I hear is that they're too far out of reach......every blip and oil change is too far out of reach.....toooo expensive
