new to mcp, noticed the fallback on rapidfire, just asking to confirm if thats how it works, because on TTS an opponent told me that due to rapid fire being resolved after the attacking model attacks, they as the active player resolve it first meaning im forced to take both attacks before using a reactive since his sequence continues is that true?

making so you cant mix affiliations would fix the game massively kind of dumb having avengers as your squad and using almost no actual avengers.
@magiknik
@magiknik Жыл бұрын
It's a matter of preference, being more on them with your affiliation list is definitely an option but in the competitive side people will splash alot and the game is designed around it so that you can always play whatever you want

Hey, huge fan of your videos, find them incredibly helpful how you break down your decision points and explain everything. Please keep them coming! One thing I wanted to check though, when Hawkeye rolled 2 wilds on his first attack, he gave Domino 2 special conditions, but I thought he could only give out 1, no matter how many wilds he rolled?

I feel like these are all interesting turn one lines… but they don’t play into the action-economy advantage that Steve really leans on. These are generically good strategies which are probably better in Inhumans and/or AR&D lists than they are in Avengers. I’d like to see a video which focuses on maximizing Steve’s action economy (i.e. getting 3-5 actions per model starting on turn 1)
@magiknik
@magiknik Жыл бұрын
Those are some fair point but I would say that they are not better in inhumans as the power economy structure of inhumans works quite differently, I do have quite a few videos on inhumans on the channel as they have been my other competitive team recently. As for avengers here I was really building off of my competitive avengers list in terms of plays that are useful for it, steve opens up alot of options that can be fun and it's why he is one of the most popular leaders out there and there's alot of ways to use the leadership to generate alot of actions. I do want to do gameplay videos of some of the more funky combos Ive messed around with in the future hopefully you can enjoy these :) I have narrowed down the uses of his leadership over the years for competitive play into a hard scenario control shell that fits my playstyle and lets me maximise my mid line threats and leave me as mobile as possible.
@docpepperclassic
@docpepperclassic Жыл бұрын
@@magiknik That's fair. The flexibility of Avengers means that different playstyles can work with Steve fairly well. My competative list is 9/10 affiliated so I get the most out of the tactics cards and I built it to be reactive to the opponent's plays, rather than proactively lining up plays the way you describe here. That's my preferred playstyle and I think that it fits Avengers very well. Every time I've tried to set-up proactive turn 1 plays with this affiliation, I've done worse than I do when I'm reacting to disrupt the opponent's gameplan. My list has a lot of character throws, charges, and status effects - all designed to make it hard for the opponent to execute their plan. I guess what I'm saying is I'd like to see a version of this video that discusses reactive strategies ("if the opponent uses gamma launch or rock and troll to send someone in your backline, here's what to do", "if the opponent is lined up to take center objectives and retreat, here's what to do," "if your opponent has a tall list where they protect a singularly powerful threat, here's that to do," etc). But, again, I think that comes down to playstyle and preference.
@magiknik
@magiknik Жыл бұрын
@@docpepperclassic I find those easier to explain in my gameplay reviews where I can explain better how I've used x or y as a reaction to what happened as everything more reactive has so many factors to evaluate it's hard to say you do x or y because it always depends on a lot of factors in terms of who has activated already and the overall board state that I don't see myself explaining these in a theory only point of view so these will be easier to showcase in my upcoming gameplay videos with avengers. You are right that to have success in MCP you need a healthy mix of reactive plays as you aren't playing solitaire and need to constantly re-evaluate your gameplan every turn and every round

Some good tactics for competitive play and I learned some cool new tricks. If I turned this video into a drinking game and took a shot every time you said "run-away" I would have died a while ago. I sometimes wish there was a mode that was more about fighting to win vs running away to win, but sadly that's not what the competitive scene of this game is about.
@magiknik
@magiknik Жыл бұрын
Haha yeah I didn't go too into detail as to why in this video but there's plenty of reasons to want to have safe extract plays in a competitive setting, it let's you avoid the extremely deadly plays your opponent will have on the center line with stuff like mystique + deception, thanos or malekith and it let's you control the game and force a catcher's mitt. It's also way easier to win through a mix of attrition and control on the following rounds if you have the extract advantage as you can be more mobile then trying to hold multiple secures which forces more of your models to be static

I think it's kind of interesting you cut bird if prey immediately. I find alot of use in this card between. Green goblin, star lord, dynamo, dorammu, doctor strange, storm, etc etc. That Sam can just go violent sometimes with the card and 3 power to charge and 7 dice seems good. I've been tinkering with ant man and loving him for his mobility and hitting power. I'll need to try some of your other tactic choices and crisis cards. Thanks for the video!
@magiknik
@magiknik Жыл бұрын
It's a solid card but with so many characters needing a character specific card and doctor voodoo being less popular it felt right to cut it. It does work versus Malekith now so it's got some interesting extra applications. I can see myself bringing it back in the future.

I really like how the terrain changed the entire game. I think this game would gain more having more unmovable terrain and size 5 terrain. A lot of pre calculated meta moves would have to be discarded (just as seen in this game). It could break a lot of turn 0 theories and allow for more thinking in the actual turns of the game. Dom will back me on this :P
