1st trail ride on an expert, both brakes are rubbing against the rotors the wheels barely spin. This is what 1400$ gets you? What?

Sounds like the shop you got it from didn’t set it up right. You may be able to take it back and ask them to fix it, but if you can’t do that then there’s some KZbin tutorials on how to fix it. It’s a super common problem that happens to any bike with disc brakes so not specific to the Specialized, it happens to a $500 bike or a $10,000 bike

Thanks for a great review and comparison. I would get a 9.7 today if available but it is only available overseas. Is this to prevent competition with the similarly priced Supercaliber? I reached out at Trek but they couldn’t/wouldn’t tell me why or when the 9.6 or 9.7 would be available in the US. Do you have any insight into this availability deficiency? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I love the two tone green 9.7. Patiently (not) waiting in Wisconsin 🚵‍♂️🐄🧀

The bike looks fantastic. Many congratulations. I have the Procaliber 9.5. I can learn some things from you - (1) It Looks like you have installed a kick-stand. What kick-stand did you install on a carbon frame? (2) How did you push that handlebar down (5:34 in the video)? Did you have to make any modifications?

Just to know if it's possible to upgrade a trek Roscoe 6 2024 to trek Roscoe 9. If yes what is to be replaced to get trek Roscoe 9
@TalalipopMTB
@TalalipopMTB 5 күн бұрын
Yes it’s possible, but you’d have to replace almost every single part on the bike which would end up costing more than just buying the roscoe 9. Trek lists the full part list on their website in the “specs” section under the bike.

With 10x1 ratios, can you go fast on the flat? And uphill?
@TalalipopMTB
@TalalipopMTB 15 күн бұрын
It’ll be less fast and less easy to go uphill overall than a drivetrain with more speeds, but the rear cassette gears do have a wide enough range where it will be manageable for most city riding. If you live in a particularly hilly area then Getting something with more speeds is probably better

3 years old and this video was a huge help. I bought a 2023 marlin 6 gen 3 and was looking for this answer. Guess im going to have to go half external and half internal. Thank you so much for the detailed video!
@TalalipopMTB
@TalalipopMTB 15 күн бұрын
No problem! And actually on that note, the Marlin 6 Gen 3 does have a hole behind the seat tube to internally route a dropper, so you can go full internal on that bike. The Gen 3 bikes weren’t released at the time of me making this video

@TalalipopMTB
@TalalipopMTB 13 күн бұрын
Wow sorry I totally blanked there. There isn’t a hole in the seat tube, it actually routes internally a different way. If you flip the bike upside down you’ll see a flat slit hole that cables come out of, so you just route it there and it comes back up through the seat tube. Sorry if that explanation isn’t the best over text haha but it does work

YOU are My HERO. I was just thinking - I need a g.d. spreadsheet to figure out which Rockhopper to buy my kid! You must think just like me! HOWEVER I have to say that I bought a Rockhopper COMP for my older son 6 months ago and it was different than what you list in this video - It has an air fork (store guy said they switched that up this year on the Comp) and I am 99% sure it was a 1x10 drivetrain, not 1x9. Sigh.... It's a constantly moving target. They make TOO many variations, They make no attempt to explain or rank the tiers on their website, and they do change many of the components every year so nothing stays the same. GRRRRRRR Now I'm looking for my younger son, and the store guy explained there are 3 versions of Rockhopper in a small frame - but I have no idea which of these 5 you covered are equal to those 3 he mentioned. And I can't verify what is on which version unless I go to the store again and examine each one. And I know that Specialized will never put a chart like this on their website, because they are constantly changing things due to supply or annual updates and it would never be accurate. Bottom line - Be Warned! If you are looking to buy you MUST spend hours researching, verifying, and know which year bike you are looking at vs what is in stock at the store, to understand what you are getting. It's not even a fun experience 😞
@TalalipopMTB
@TalalipopMTB 5 күн бұрын
Appreciate your comment!! Yeah these days it's pretty crazy to try and get an accurate spec list, they change things from country to country and sometimes even locally the bikes could be different like you mentioned. At the end of the day the parts shouldn't be tooo different, but I have seen companies spec lower quality parts sometimes and customers may not know the difference which is sucky

How would you rate it against the new Trek Dual Sport Gen 5 lineup without the front suspension? Can this be used for a weekend bikepacking trip?
@TalalipopMTB
@TalalipopMTB 27 күн бұрын
I haven’t ridden the new dual sports much, but the DS2 is currently on sale for $700 so same price as this momentum. On paper the dual sports have more mounts, more speeds because of more gears (on the DS1 and DS2), but this momentum does have better brakes than the DS2 and a simpler drivetrain that should work better and have less issues. I’d say dual sport is better for bike packing overall but this could be used for that purpose as long as your bike packing gear can be strapped on
