What happens when you have a very very very stubborn teenager ? She was good during the toddler years and grew into very stubborn teen. Example: homework needs to be done after school. Her: no Dad: Do it you’re losing privleges such as phone and computer. Teen: no Loses phone Dad: again asks to do homework Teen loses computer Hours of this and she does not care. Teacher gave her zero on assignment. Dad and teacher meet to discuss issue. Teen still won’t do the work. Does she not understand what to do. Dad takes day off work to meet with principle and teenager gets work done in his office in 15 minutes. Work is now 2 weeks overdue along with other work. Please tell me where did Dad go wrong ? Girl does not care how many things she lost.

I wish this was something my family did...but no all it is is yelling I may be old enough to know sometimes I don't why do this ? Why why why calling all people that feel like this the oldest does everything (I'm the oldest) I'm still human to please parents don't have children if you can't love them I hate life💔 my family thinks it's disgusting to be 🏳️‍🌈but I'm 🏳️‍🌈 why parents don't love us? I have no feelings except sadness I HATE LIFE💔

My only complaint is showing the child's face, but still, good technique. Calm the kid down, explain throwing tantrums ain't the way

As a mother of 6 grown sons ive never seen anything like this ever!! There's gentle parenting and there's a child needing a time out to control himself and to let him continue this type of behavior is unbelievable!!! He needs to TAKE THOSE DEEP BREATHING EXERCISES PERIOD!!! YOUR NOT HELPING HIM TO SELF REGULATE!!!!!!!!

I appreciate you sharing this. For me, returning to the workforce before it felt right was demoralizing. Having no choice in the matter rips you apart. But what you're saying is true & it helps a parent to know (ahead of time if possible) good things will happen too.

I think how you parent is a personal choice you make. Although I could never parent this way, I see nothing wrong with it at all. When I say that it’s not a backhanded dig at the mom, but rather at myself. I know what I can and cannot handle as someone who has low support autism. I would need to walk away and regulate myself. It’s not about ignoring them but it’s more about first do no harm including melting down with them and the very last thing that is within me would be able to do is cuddle/nurse them while they are in that state. Once again if anyone is lacking in this it would be me and I would hate for people to judge me in how I’m able to parent so I try my best to do the same for others❤

This is what I'd do. For example, if my kid hits another kid I'd pull them aside the second I am able to. I would say something along the lines of "why did you hit (name)?" if they said they were hit first I'd say "Next time you need to tell an adult you trust right after you are hit, then you won't get in trouble, but if they hit you first and tried again and they don't stop, you hitting back is what we call self defense. Which to me, is a good response." If it was for anything other than self defense I'd say something like "We do not hit people. Do you understand? Hitting is harmful and you have given someone pain. That was not okay to do. You are allowed to share your feelings, but you have to be calm and safe. This was neither. So, you are not going to be using the (TV or toy, whichever they value more) until you prove to me you can be safe."

hell naw 💀💀💀 firstly: this is a tantrum, not a meltdown secondly: you're giving in to the tantrum by hugging him thirdly: he's way too old to be breastfed and way too young for screentime, especially if he's watching an overstimulating brainrot show like blippi 💀💀💀 edit: btw you don't need the trigger warning for a crying toddler

If I ever have children, I would teach them that temper tantrums over not having their way will not result in having their way. I’d just put on noise cancelling headphones, and ignore the tantrum until they run out of energy every time they do it until the child learns that temper tantrums are useless. I would have a saying to children “The dentist will drill your teeth if you keep eating all that candy.”
