I have done that as well. Swapped the board and Bios chip.the disk is spinning for about a minute and not detected by pc and stop spinning then. The pcb board is Rev A 2060-771822-002. The hard drive is 4Tb western digital black. What could be the reason sir?

do you have a budget service? if i only send in a pcb and a donor board without the HDD and just want the bios chip swapped, would that be possible? no testing required, i already know it works (hotwired a cap, but not wanting to risk a burnout during transfer and would rather a proper swap), not good with soldering so I didn't bother trying to replace the cap myself (could be more wrong with it or other caps gonna burn out?) would prefer an outright swap of the 88i8845D-BHG2 controller (BGA) to the new board.

I have a Seagate USB backup. It spins up, makes a very VERY faint ticking, and almost sparking sound, then spins down. It kind of just stop working while I was saving some files with no issues prior. If anyone can help me diagnose it, I'd appreciate it.

MY QUESTION IS WHERE COULD BE THE PROBLEM? my SSD [ WD10JPVX ] only gets detected once per 20 times trying , and when its finally detected i open the partitions i see my files everything is fine, but few seconds later it gets undetected again . [ i use usb connector to connect it to another laptop ] So This means the problem is in the PCB board ? Or the disk itself ? I'm trying to get my data back . What if I used my hard drive for awhile but later when I browsing it's folder or copying files the hard drive stop responding its showing "Not Responding".

I think the best way to deal with a stuck arm reader on the hard drive is to try to find a screw located somewhere in the middle of the hard drive, unscrew it and then plug in the hard drive to see if it works. If it does, screw it back on and that's it. It's too late for me but might help you out!

Hi, since last month, my comp is giving me a very unusual service. I am not able to find whether its hdd issue or ide cable issue, or software issue. Problem: 1) 99% problem starts with critical process died error. When its going to occured, computer starts hanging several times and also come out of that state several time. 2) If it occurs its hard to boot again. At the time of booting, it starts slowly and every single "clicksound", it hangs and later proceed forward slowly. 3) I checked for bad sectors via hdtune software but nothing found hdd shows healthy without any bad sector. I did memory diagnosis that is too found ok. 4) i tried hardware solutions but no one can exactly tell the issue as its recurring. 5) i feel its smps issue but another hdd worked just fine. The second thing i think due to software issue it may occur. Can u pls gv soln

I hope someone can be interested reading my little story about a hard drive that i still have installed in my laptop. It all started when i began to see a blue screen *BAD SYSTEM CONFIG SYSTEM*. I saw a couple of tutorials but none of them worked out, so I tried to make a custom installation of windows *keeping my files due to they are very import * the installation failed when it was by the 40% of the installation, so i decided to make a clean installation, it failed as well. Then i tried different commands like *fix mbr, fix boot, and rewriting file as tutorials were seen, so nothing happened i never tried to install windows from a disk *MW10* cuz i know that would lose it all, so i made a clean installation with a different hdd so i worked very good so as soon as i installed windows with the new hdd i installed the old hdd and was able to copy my important files. My concern is the how was it possible to reset and not being able to read or write info when i tried to do it when i was just attempting with windows no physical cd installation and after i copied all my files I was even able to make it a quick reset.

Hi, My Seagate Barracuda 2TB went bad. It runs smooth in the inside; Its not ticking, it not scratching or anything. I just cant see the drive and its capacity in Bios, Windows, Linux or anything. I tried almost anything possible with DISKPART and FDISK in Linux enviroment. No luck. I have another Seagate with different different size and model but the board and pins fits exact same as the original one. Could it be the a board issue, Can i make this HDD work by replacing its board with the spare one?

The best thing to do is to put all of your data on a usb flash drive , so u wont lose anything before any problems occur.

Sorry, with this guy droning on and on without much text or anything it's hard to pay proper attention. I have a Dell laptop that I got brand-new back in November 2014 (idk which model) that currently runs Windows 10. When I turn it on, it goes to the Dell motherboard loading sequence, gets spinning dots, then it attempts to launch automatic repair. After a couple minutes, it goes to a black screen, and stays like that. When I turn the PC on, I can only hear the soft fanning of the CPU Fan. I hear no clicking, ticking, or grinding, not even a faint indication of them. I can only seem to load up the BIOS. I ran diagnostics on the PC a few days ago and everything came up fine except for the Hard Drive, which appearantly failed a "long test". Under different circumstances, I would take it to the local Computer Repair place, but I unfortunately cannot afford to have it looked at right now. I also have old, irreplacable files on there so it isn't as easy as replacing my laptop...

Nothing.. I guess I just got lucky when I bought new hard drives and then they all booted up to the partition part... The hardest part was putting windows back into the hard drives.. Two were easy they had system disks. The other 2 not...

I got a drive with most like a corrupted/broken cache chip. Can those be easily replaced? Does it need to be exactly the same chip, or would one with compatible specs also work? Can I just get one off the PCB of an identical drive and transfer it over?

Thanks Bud. Broke the SATA connector on a 4TB drive over a year. Needed another drive to do 3rd level Backup of my Development files on my NAS. Bought a replacement PCB for the driv; but it did not work. I had an idea what was wrong but your vid confirmed it so exchanged the flash IC and all is good. Now I have another live backup of my precious development files. Thank you for the time and effort it took to produce this video. ;)

if i never ran chkdsk, i wouldn't have a bad drive. left it running for 1 and a half days, and then ever since it's slowed. if you're using the freezer hakk u should leave it in the freezer for 12 hours to allow the disk to completely be cold. and contrary to what 'experts' claim, it won't ruin your drive, then again, ymmv. the freezer hakk actually made my disk not be accessible, and was actually accessible upon warming up

If you try the freezer trick, don’t use an ordinary plastig bag as it may generate huge amount of static electricity which can destroy the IC’s. In this video they use an ANTISTATIC BAG (slightly pink). Normal antistatic bags are dark grey and look and feel slightly metallic. Also make sure you’re not wearing any static electricity generating clothes when handling the PCB (Printed Circuit Board). Earthen yourself before removing the PCB.
