Slightly different. The first snow has a hexagonal footprint, where as the fengyin seems to be more rectangular.

From what I can work out Grenadia (you mentioned passiflo) 1:15 is so named because of its similarity to pomegranate (apple of many seeds). And yes, grenades - apparently named as such because they resembled pomegranates - seem unfortunately connected. Nice video!

If those are 'common' honeybees, they will inhibit specialised pollinators from getting a foothold in and around your Forrest. You already know the benefits of a more diverse ecosystem, so consider moving them away at the right time of year.
@rob-in-peru10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately European honey bees are everywhere and were on the property before I put in my hive. So far I haven't seen any native bees, which is a worry as they are invaluable to certain tree pollination. Hope to give you some good news on this in the future. Thanks

Love it. On your island, interplant everything as much as you can. Use the shade to your advantage. In my opinion that area will be the quickest to react to planting and attention. A lot of my success, with my food forest, has a lot to do with support species and shade creation. Have a look at 'David the Good' on KZbin. He does a process called "grocery row gardening" I think you'd really do well with a similar approach. 💚

I very much enjoyed watching this video. Will the avocado tree be ok so close to the swale ? They don’t like water clogged roots I’ve heard..they are slightly above the swale I see. Maybe that’s going to be ok. I’m an English man in Tennessee mountains on rough terrain in middle of forest and your video is so healing to watch as I deal with so many complications

Much appreciated! As a long term user of an MLD Trailstar I'm thinking about this tarp as kind of alternative where space is limited. Airflow (ie condensation) does not seem to be a problem, space is ok, the entrance can be closed or semi-closed or left open for watching the sun rise in the morning.The fact that the inner is already part of the offer is even more a bonus (I have a custom inner for my Trailstar but it did cost a fortune). Do you still think it's a good investment? Only other candidates would be something from the Lanshan series, but I'm 1.87cm ...
@rob-in-peru Жыл бұрын
I have yet to give the tent a more realistic test in a wild camp location. Hopefully by the of his month. I think 1.87 might be getting close to the limit of the practical interior length. I have played around with the pitching to leave more space between the outer and the inner. In the video I had the side guys out too far, and I have found bringing them in much closer leaves a good gap and still leave plenty of space on the outsides for covered storage. Access gets easier with practice and less likely to touch the sides like I found getting in and out of my lanshan 1. Cheers.

Gracias.
@rob-in-peru Жыл бұрын

Saludos amigo.

Preparing land for a food forest is tough. On my land it floods frequently and standing water kills many fruit trees (like avocados, mamey sapotes, etc) so I have to make huge earth mounds for planting each tree…. It’s hard work. But seeing the trees thriving is worth it. By the way, don’t peaches need a lot of chill hours to produce fruit? Your climate looks a little too warm for peaches. I’m in a lowland tropical climate and I’m growing: Avocado, Banana, Breadfruit, Canistel (like lucuma but grows in lowlands), Coconut, Dragon fruit, Guava, Hog Plum, Lemon, Longan, Lychee, Macadamia nut, Mamey sapote, Mandarin, Mango, Mulberry, Sapodilla, Star Apple (caimito). If you’re looking for stuff to plant I highly recommend these, but check if they’re suited to your altitude. Good luck!
@rob-in-peru Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the message - which part of the world are you in? Yesterday I noticed a couple of avocado tree saplings were suffering because of too much water - my fault as I hadn't compacted the soil enough on top of the forest soil matter put in the bottom of the hole and it was getting way to wet. I dug out a little drainage channel to see if I can save those. Peaches do alright here, but they are small white peaches and not the large yellow/red kind. Banana grow in the area, I am working on getting some plants soon. We are too high for coconut and mango. Dragon fruit should be okay, but we are on the limit of being to high. It's all a big experiment and seeing what works and what doesn't and hopefully finding other plants to grow that easy to come by in the area.
@somerandomperson1503 Жыл бұрын
@@rob-in-peru Yeah it does sound like you’re pretty high up. I’m in Florida, so basically near sea level. You might want to look into Green Sapote (Pouteria Viridis, related to lucuma, but totally different taste). Don’t know if it’s common in Peru, but it should perform extremely well in that climate. Tastes great. Avocados sadly are extremely sensitive to wet feet, it kills them quick, but they do really well when grown on a mound or slope, where water runs down and doesn’t pool. Bananas are a great choice, those things grow like weeds, can’t kill them. I’ll keep following your channel for updates, interested to see how it turns out. Don’t be put off by setbacks and failures, I’ve had hundreds by now, it’s a lot of trial and error….and digging.
