I’ve asked this question on a number of different channels, and no one knows for sure - the questions is: did Ford on their 60’s and 70’s heads have the 3 angle valves and seats or were they all straight 45 degree valves and seats.
@KentuckyColonel
@KentuckyColonel 4 ай бұрын
Good question... I would venture a guess it was a simple 45 degree cut and lap. To answer that question 100% I would try and find a head repair manual from the 1960's.

Every old Ford FE and Windsor stock head I ever worked with were just one angle on the valve job. Even a freshly rebuilt set of D8OE heads off my 351W reman long block are one angle and it's all freshly re done.

DOOE=D 1970s, first O last number of decade 0, second O is original application (don't know O off top of my head) usually C orT car or truck, E is part type, E is engine. That casting is a 1970 production iron engine block. It should be the early heavier/stronger block but you need to measure it, this could be a 9.2 inch deck height before Ford went to the 9.5 inch deck height. It will work fine but be aware of the measurements, they will effect parts selection and final assembly. The first tank should have Red Devil lye and Tri Sodium Phosphate and the second one should have clothes washing 'Soda' the first was where you were,(the paint department of the big-box store)( the second product is in the cleaner/clothes washing area of Walmart). What you are using is probably safer but a lot less effective. Put the metal can on an old grilled stoke up the Fire. Both baths will be done by morning. Be safe and Take care, -John

PS, I forgot to tell you... Have a big pot (like an old syrup kettle) full of real hot (was recently boiling) water, a couple of cans of WD40 and your air hose with a blower nozzle. Rinse with a cup of t h e water and a little brush or rag and blow dry with the compressed air. If you start seeing ANY Flash rust, go ahead and spray down the block with the WD 40. Start with the oil passages, then bearing areas and lifter bores and then the deck surfaces. It will prevent it from rusting and can be wiped off with the LAs Awsome from dollar general store, when you are ready to paint the motor. Ya'll Take Care, -John

Testing 1 spot may not be accurate 🤷‍♂️ id give it an AP bath and see if it leaves foils to recover. If it does, even at 14k foils, that's a big chain and should produce at least 1 gram id think. But if it singed like that with even a drop of 10k, id say its plated at best. Many people watching dont even know what GF is. I know the Colonel does. But many people still think it means solid gold, it doesnt people! Gold filled is generally 1/20th of the items total weight in kt gold. And that gold covers the outside like an extra, extra, extra heavy plate of gold. See example below. 1/20th 12k gold on a 20 gram necklace. 1/20th of its total weight would be 1 gram of 12k gold. Then, after processing, because its only 12k and 50% pure gold at 12k (out of 24 parts of gold), you have to half that 1 gram of 12k by removing other alloys. So you finish with 0.5grams of 24k gold from the 20gram 12k gold filled chain you started with. Or about a $32 payoff. Gold Filled is almost always worth more than sterling silver. If you find a buyer locally, it pays decent. If you sell Gold Filled lots on Ebay, people pay top dollar so they can refine them themselves. But eBay takes massive fees from sellers. So you must shop around, or recover the gold yourself. I can process a large batch of this stuff in 1 day. From recovery, to refining, to melt. Easier over 2 days, but i can do it in 1 day. AP bath is how id like to start it, if im in no rush anyway. My yields are always over 22k, but ive never refined 999 before that i recall. But if i process them 3x, im certain id hit 999 fine. But with only 22k solution to test, i cant tell? Its all pretty when im done. I sell it at 24k and my buyers are happy. I sell just under spot though, at 95%-98% of spot.

25lbs is an extremely small sample and most "ore" unless you're high grading isn't going to be rich. And the free gold in this ore is very fine in this stuff. I did a couple pans and was able to see it. when I bumped it up. But most of it requires a x40 loop to see individually. I bought 75lbs. Have processed about 50% down to -50 and am using a sluice to "speed" up concentrating it. So far I've produced 3/4 of a gram. Oh and I'm using a crazy crusher so it's taking a long time.

Exit wound on right side of head, bullet enters from rear and the movement forward is limited because John already was crunched forward and held there by his very tight back brace, then rebounds backwards. That doesn't mean Oswald shot the bullet, but the fatal blow came from the rear.

Gold filled should be renamed to something more to how it actually is. Like, if my bottle is water filled, you would think it is filled to the neck with water. Not just lightly wrapping around the sides.
