Great to know it’s done with Moxon! Also , curious about whether moxon is good compared to a circular polarized antenna for satellites?
@johnsonstechworld4 күн бұрын
Good question! Circular polarized antenna is best for satellite (kzbin.info/www/bejne/monMmaGdeqeDhdk). Omnidirectional one is Eggbeater or its variant TPM, which does not need an antenna rotator. Cross Yagi is best, but needs a rotator (kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGWTnYd7l72ZkLc). Moxon Yagi is really meant for outdoor manual operation as it is very light weight. 73 de Jon, VU2JO

spotting yourself will not work, as many have the cluster settings filtered by continent. if you think calling CQ for 15minutes is enough to call a band dead. well its dead for your antenna system and QTH. @straightnochaser48789 күн бұрын
You are absolutely right. The narrower the diagram, the more difficult it is to guide the satellite. Such antennas assume the use of full duplex. If you do not hear the retransmitted signal, then the antenna with a narrower radiation pattern will lose in relation to a simpler antenna. I was convinced of this from my own experience. If you make DK7ZB I suggest trying to direct the antenna manually. You will be able to control the azimuth, angle and polarization quickly and effectively

To work with this satellite, you need to use full duplex. You can use a couple of portable radio and a duplexer. For reception, I use a superheterodyne with a sensitivity of 0.16 μV. What to use for transmission is not important. I have 5 elements for transmission, 6 for reception. An open-sleeve yagi. With the correct orientation of the antenna, the retransmitted signal is slightly lower in audibility than on SO-50, but still quite strong
@johnsonstechworld10 күн бұрын

Did I hear a DX station towards the end of the audio clip, beyond 4:30 of the pass recording? It was a near overhead pass of International Space Station here and UHF side of IC 2730 showed even six segments of signal strength at TCA! A VHF repeater at 40km gives hardly one segment display on VHF with this antenna. That is the power of ARISS!

Yep they all are , 40 , 20 , and 15 meters all gone . I got my ham Class A license in the early 80's and at that time H.F. radio was buzzing , there were so many broadcast stations , hundreds day and night . Ham bands were in constant use . O.K. this was before the end of the cold war and the beginning of the internet . But it's more than that . There are still some S.W. Broadcasters But H.F. Conditions here in the U.K.today and recently are usually very poor too none . I think the ham radio community is in total denial . It's not the lack of Ham radio operators on H.F It's the lack of H.F. propagation . Somehow we managed to kill the Ionosphere F1 layer F2 layer all gone . Sorry to have to say it but most days here in the U.K. H.F. radio is mostly just STATIC NOISE ! 80 meters at night 20 or 15 during the day All gone .thanks for the video DE G4MXC

10 meters will come back from September onwards - peak summer is always quiet so hang on in there. I also use 11m CB and the same applies. Propagation is of course a different issue from the slow decline of amatuer radio in general. As more megawatt with beam users shout across the airwaves the real hams interested in using conditions rather than power technology to make qso's tend to decline in proportion. This trend is exactly what governments want as they reclaim bandwidth for commercial use. 73 M7BLC / 26CT3775.
