I will always have respect for Fiona for what she had to go through to raise her own siblings, but I don't have a whole lot of respect for her drinking or doing any drugs or leaving any of that stuff out for Liam to eat. I don't care if she didn't know Liam was near cocaine, that's not a good excuse. She should have hid them instead of leaving them on the counter like an idiot.

When Monica says “maybe I will never make things right with you Fiona” and then turns to the younger kids, “Carl and Debbie” saying that she’s sorry for hurting them, and saying she loved them, just shows that she wasn’t interested in trying to make things right with Fiona, and because Fiona stood her ground, Monica decided to move onto the younger children, who were the most vulnerable and impressionable, because it was easier for her, and she was desperately grasping for someone’s approval, to feel less guilty. This is the shit toxic people do. If she was a caring person, wanting to be a better parent, she would have actually put the effort in, and take on the responsibilities, instead of shrugging off Fiona, and giving a weak apology to the little ones. I remember feeling so satisfied, when Fiona expressed herself to her the way she did. She worded everything perfectly.

0:56 The way she could bring up something for each of the kids accomplishments just shows how proud she was of them. This scene is so fucking sad

It's hard to watch this and feel sympathy for Fiona as she lists off all of her siblings' accomplishments knowing where they all end up in later seasons. 😬

Ill never forget in that court room when Fiona told the story of how she was 6 years old having to take Lip under her arm, and Ian with a 105 fever under her other to the hospital. Frank was in the bar getting drunk and left them outside. Didnt come back for days. And the first thing he did when he did come back was ask Fiona for money. Fiona gave up her life for them. She gave up everything to make sure they all survived and thrived despite all odds. And they treated her like shit for it.

"You were my mother too!" Fiona spends so much time neglecting herself that it was one of the only times where (in the earlier seasons) her family actually gets reminded that she's not their janitor but a real person who not only went through all the same trauma they did, but also held them all together and pretended like she was fine. That she was the first one to be neglected and as such, had no one she could lean on. No one to look out for her.

Fiona raised 5 goddamn kids and busted her ass providing for them while also dealing with her own personal life and putting out fires within her own family, AND giving them advice and supporting them when they all were going thru their own personal stuff. Fiona is a damn hero as far as I'm concerned. Even though its a show, there's people out there doing the same thing with bad circumstances, and they're doing their best, and then some, to make ends meet, and taking care of loved ones. And they're all heros.

Idk why...but...but the way I just started crying when Fiona yelled, "You were my mother too!" My face literally scrunched up like hers, and now I'm crying in my room. My upbringing was nowhere near as chaotic as Shameless, but damn, that really struck a nerve for some reason.

Fiona is the goat. None of her siblings could even comprehend what she sacrificed and went through for them. Emmy deserves aaalll the recognition especially for this scene. Makes me cry every time.

People don’t even realize how hard it was for Emily to see Carl and Debbie to hug Monica, because she’s been the rock the whole time when she fucks up it’s her problem Monica was never the problem. It’s ridiculous, because she was the room with her through many seasons, even though she was a fuck up herself due to her parents.

Carl and Debbie only consoled Monica as long as Fiona was still in the picture. Once Fiona left the house, they immediately stopped hugging Monica because they feared they lost Fiona forever.

It really upsets me that these actors played these roles and were paid millions for a life they knew nothing about. I teach children like this family. Their trauma is real. Parents like that exist. It's very different than walking off a set at the end of the day.

It’s so weird how she just pops kids out and leaves them for Fiona to raise lol. This scene is like the limit at which you can forgive and empathize with someone. It’s right on the line so you find yourself wavering just a little if not only due to the practicalities of the situation. Great show.

But not a shit family Fiona has or those Rohingya, Roma, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Lhotshampa who get rid of their daughters through child marriages. If I were there, I'd meet Fiona. She can shout at me and release all of her pain, stress, pressure at me until she breaks down in tears, then I'd hug her.
