Really nice video. We drove a part of this way in our Fiat Punto ;) Our silly city car did a great job on many F-roads and small river crossings ;) I still wonder why it didn't break down and why everyone was smiling while seeing Punto here ;)

Cześć Piotr, bardzo przydatny film, tym bardziej, że pod koniec sierpnia chciałbym udać się do Landmannalaugar z Vik. Czy Twoim zdaniem Hyundai Tucson 4x4 powinien sprostać wyzwaniu? :) Pozdrawiam serdecznie!

Tak, powinien dać radę. Kłopot może być jedynie przy przekraczaniu 3 rzek jeśli poziom wody będzie wyższy niż 50 cm a Ty nie będziesz mieć snorkela. Jeśli go masz - nie masz problemu 💪😁

Everything will depend on the water level in the rivers. Vitara is a bit of a low car and with the normal water level in rivers it can be drowned. The car you saw in this video had 35 inch wheels and a snorkel. This made it possible for me to cross rivers up to 1.2 m deep. Good luck on this tour!

Excellent, so before and after video clip there is how much climb. How long did it take you in total one way to climb the rock?

It took me about 4 hours to climb the Burdah Bridge. But I took my time and filmed the transition myself.

Hi Piotr, we're planning to take a Duster or Vitara in Sept. Do you think it will be fine for Landmannalaugar? If not then which other car (budget) would you recommend?

Hi! If you are going to Landmannalaugar from the northwest - both cars will pass this route without any problem. If you plan to go from the south (the route shown in this video) you may have big problems as there are many river crossings (14 x). I am sending greeting and I wish you good luck !

Yes, it is possible, but before that it must not rain for at least one week.

Thanks for your video. A very detailed and informative video. I am going to Landmannalauger at the end of August/ first week of Sept. Do you have any tips on how to visually gauge the depth of the river without walking into the river? what cue/ clues do you look for to determine the best entry/exit point? I have reserved a Land Rover Discovery 5 - do you think that should handle all river crossings along F208 including the deeper and wider one (assuming normal weather and other circumstances)? the car can raise up to 0.9M. Thanks in advance.

Most of the rivers on F208 are passable through Discovery, but there are also some (4 rivers) that are very often deeper. Unfortunately, there is no other way to check their depth than to enter the water, or watch other cars crossing the river. I wish you good luck and good weather.

There was a lot of snow in Landmannalaugar this year so expect the rivers to be deeper from all the melted snow. Best thing you can do is to ask a Ranger about the current situation before you drive there.

@@skullflower354 I'm going to drive from the south and I don't think there are any rangers except may be at certain river crossings.

@@asenna425 There are usually Rangers on every road leading to Landmannalaugar. They stop Tourists and tell them what to do and what not to do (driving offroad for example). But it depends on the weather and time of the day. We saw one on our way to Landmannalaugar, but he was gone once we came back the next day.

I used the Nissan Terrano on large (35 inch) wheels. I do not recommend Toyota RAV because it is low and it will easily suck water into the engine.

Все зависит от количества и интенсивности дождя. Эта поездка была в начале сентября и предшествовала 2 недели без дождя.

All of these water crossings on F208 are quite easy. I rode this road with motorcycle in September 2018.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to say whether the crossings are easy or not, it all depends on the weather, if there is a longer time without rain, the crossings are easy, but if you find rainy weather it will be hard!

Tak, raczej tak. My uczyliśmy się off road'u między innymi na tej trasie. A Land Cruiser nadaje się na tą trasę wyśmienicie ! Nie zapomnij tylko włączać napędu na 4 przy przekraczaniu rzek, nie zatrzymuj sie w rzekach i nie pozwalaj zgasnąć silnikowi a będzie OK. Pozdrawiam i życzę wielu satysfakcjonujących wrażeń z przejazdu !

Cześć, czy mógłbyś napisać w jakim miesiącu jechaliście i czy w Twojej ocenie do pokonania tej drogi wystarczy Dacia Duster lub podobny czy niezbędne jest większe auto typu Pajero?

My jechaliśmy we wrześniu i stan wody był na tyle niski że Duster spokojnie dałaby radę. Całość drogi przy niskim stanie wody jest spokojnie do przejechania ! Pozdrawiam i życzę powodzenia !

Jechaliśmy fragmentem południowym miesiąc temu, Dacia Duster. W połowie drogi z Laugar do Eldgja natrafiliśmy na zbyt głęboką rzekę do pokonania. Jeśli macie wątpliwości to najlepiej zawsze się poświęcić, podwinąć spodnie i wyjść sprawdzić. Woda była 5 cm poniżej kolana ale dno się zapadało na rzece lodowcowej bo to rzeka okresowa, dlatego odpuściliśmy i zamiast 30-40 km wyszło nam 210 km do pokonania bo trzeba było objechać całą Heklę. Do decyzji przyczyniło się też to, że spotkaliśmy w tym problematycznym miejscu Kanadyjczyków, którzy poinformowali nas, że dalej są jeszcze dwie głębsze rzeki do pokonania. Ten rok na IS jest bardzo deszczowy więc nadal możecie trafić na podobną przygodę. Co ciekawe, dzień po naszej przejażdżce zamknęli ten odcinek F208 na 2-3 dni, bo rzeki mocno wezbrały.

Thanks for the reply. Was the drive and sightseeing worth the time and risk (river-crossings) involved? I'm doing Laugavegur Trail beforehand and I'm not sure doing this F208 is worth extra costs of time and getting 4x4 and other risks.

Film został nakręcony z AEE S71T Touch + Przyssawka mała - AEE MagiCam S71, S71T. Była przymocowana wewnątrz samochodu na przedniej szybie. Pozdrawiam ... Piotr
