@Becky_Fischer Hey Becky, I really appreciate your response. I have so many questions, maybe you could answer one or the other if you wish. 1. Can I pray in tongues at will? Or will I only "access" praying in tongues when I am completely filled with the Holy Spirit? Meaning when I am in deep worship? 2. Will I always say the same thing? @@DelBloqueElJefe Great questions, and lots of people want to know. 1. Can I pray in tongues at will? There is much confusion about this, and I believe it stems from people realizing what a sacred gift it is and not wanting to use it wantonly. I know of one entire denomination who believes what you have described. I honestly don't where they get this from scriputrally. Because what I read in the Bible is the opposite. The short answer is yes, you can pray in tongues any time you want. 1 Corinthians 14:32 says The "spirits of prophets are subject to prophets." By this he means that the Holy Spirit does not "take over" a person's spirit to the point where that person loses restraint. It means you have complete control in most cases as an act of your will to speak in tongues or not. This is written in the verses where Paul is educating people on things getting out of control in a church service. He says God is not a God of disorder but of order. Therefore you can control yourself. As an act of your will you can speak or not speak in tongues. The Holy Spirit does not force you. As for when and where, is this something you can only do when you are deeply moved by the Holy Spirit? Again, the answer is no. It is an act of your will. I frequently pray in tongues when I am concerned about something or someone. I pray in the Spirit for friends in need. I may not feel like it at all. I may be going through my own personal struggles at the moment, but that does not mean I cannot pray in English or in tongues. If you can pray in English (or your native tongue) anytime you want to, why wouldn't you be able to pray in tongues any time you want. Emotions have nothing to do with it. When I need wisdom or guidance from the Lord, I pray in tongues. Paul said, "I pray in tongues more than you all." Knowing he was in prison half the time, I seriously doubt he waited for a deep worshipful moment to exclusively pray in tongues. He was in danger many times. I'm quite sure he prayed in tongues as he was running from his persecutors. Emotions have nothing to do with it. Of course, when we are deeply moved by the spirit or feel his presence very strong, it's natural to break out in the spirit. 2. Will I say the same thing or will it be different? IT'S A LANGUAGE. How many words and phrases are there in the English language? It's unlimited!!!! It's the same in tongues. Having said that, I had heard testimonies of some people who only got a few words or phrases when they were first filled with the spirit, but they faithfully kept praying even though they were saying the same thing over and over. But that is rare. Most people will speak fluently in tongues after a short period of time. Something unusual happens occasionally when I pray in tongues in intercession. I will say the same few syllables or words over and over and over again until I get a release. I felt odd about it for a long time, until I was in a prayer meeting with a group of other people and apparently I was speaking in a native American language, and someone near me knew that language. He knew what I was saying because I felt intimidated that I was saying the same thing repeatedly. He said, Oh no it was beautiful. You were saying over and over again, "Jesus will be glorified!" I never felt odd about it again. but 95% of the time I am speaking many different words just like I would if I were in a conversation with someone. Our imagination has NOTHING TO DO WITH SPEAKING IN TONGUES!!!!!! Our mind does not know what is going on. 1 Corinthians 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unproductive [because it does not understand what my spirit is praying]. In fact, you can be thinking about what you're going to eat for supper tonight when you pray in tongues. That's a weird example, but it's true. Sometimes, when I am praying in tongues, my mind wanders. Weird, right? But when you pray tongues, you are praying out of your spirit where the Holy Spirit lives. You are not praying out of your mind or your imagination.

@PowerClubKids Hey, I am so grateful for the time you take to respond to my questions. I have realized the following when I spoke in tongues: 1. Whenever I tried to pray in tongues before, nothing ever came out. To the point where I consciously or subconsciously started forming words in my own mind. But two days ago, when I prayed in tongues for the first time, it sounded nothing like what I had in mind. It sounded Arabic/Hebrew-like. 2. While I was praying in tongues, I constantly had the urge to say: Yeshua Hamaschiach. 3. Since that day, there are constantly words forming in my mind, similar to those I spoke when I prayed in tongues. But I don't know if it is the Holy Spirit that wants to talk through me or if I am recalling what happened and am now starting to form my own words. 4. While praying in tongues, I did think about different things, like: "Hey, I gotta tell my Church buddy what is happening right now." 5. While I was praying and singing in tongues, I told the Holy Spirit (in my mind) if this is happening for real, I want to pray the "Our Father" in tongues. And I did pray it... but what concerns me is: Although words came out of my mouth, and it felt so beautiful and intense, I still imagined what the "Our Father" sounded like in my native language to make sure that I kept the "rhythm" when praying it in tongues. Which made me think: What if it was your self doing it, while imagining it was the Holy Spirit? Question: Could you, by the experience that you have, tell me if I have indeed prayed in tongues or was it my self pretending?

Yes, it is all by faith. Everything about our walk with God is by faith. The just shall live by faith. Without faith it's impossible to please him, etc. As for the lady who said, "You don't start them by your will, but the Holy Spirit takes over." I know there is at least one Pentecostal denomination who teaches this, but I would have to disagree. We can pray at will in our known language any time we want to. Why shouldn't we be able to pray in our heavenly language any time we want? She won't be able to back up her statement with any scripture. In 1 Corinthians 14, it says the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. The "spirit of the prophet" refers to the prophetic inspiration or the prompting of the Holy Spirit to speak a message. "Subject to the prophet" means that the individual prophet controls when and how to deliver the message. This highlights that prophecy does not force itself on the person or override their will. A prophet must exercise self-discipline in their delivery. This would include speaking in tongues. Also, an amazing number of Christians still do not understand there are two uses for speaking in tongues. One is for our personal edification and for building up our spirit, man. The other is for the benefit of a group of people such as in a church service where a "message in tongues" is given. That is called a gift of tongues as in the nine gifts of the Spirit. Same tongues. Two different purposes and uses.

@@Becky_Fischer I agreee, only fear i had was "false tongues" or what if its demonic, but i do pry hours and hours, Do you know it is also focused prayer. like we can pray some different areas or issues and pray? It seems to ebe effective, i mean, the more i pray in tongues the moer it seems to open up what tongues really are, if that makes sense? Also it does work well fighting sin too? or how is it with you? Like it makes us stronger?

@@Becky_Fischer I also heard good things about, prayin non stop, so they are able to stay prying without ceasing pretty much tongues silently, wich is also interesting, and some do it in their mind? It didnt make sense to me
