Chris - beautiful video as always from you! Foka, but also Cobra (hint for you 😀) are a miss of beauty among all gliders. Great models!

@@brzzzzkwilliamswonders That's great news, it seems to fit my bill perfectly. I am looking for a decent sized scale glider that looks the part. Would you say it is equally suited for flat field thermal soaring, as it is for the slope? Thanks a lot.

I'm a Japanese glider pilot. And I work in video production. This video uses a small fixed camera wonderfully, and I think it is a unique and wonderful video. Of course, the level of perfection of the scale model glider is also amazing.

For me, the Petrel is arguably the most beautiful sailplane ever. As a fullsize sailplane pilot this is the plane I would most like to have flown. And I'm a big Jeff Beck fan. The photography and editing here was stunning and the pilots head turning really added to the realism (glider pilots have their heads on swivels!). Great piece of work from the prolific Chris Williams and the filming and production crew. 👍

The original 1/4 scale Pirat was slightly older than me, and i'm 53. The germans banned it from competition because it was too big. !!!! I still have a 1/4 Pirat, and the 1/3 version built by Kevin Wilson. And i hope to publish the video one day of the Pirat and Grunau race to the ground video. The 'October Do' at White Horse model club, was the greatest aero tow meeting in the country at the time.

Beautiful model and can't believe how prolific Chris Williams is! We had a Pirat syndicate at my gliding club. I recall that (like a lot of Polish gliders, by design) it spun well. That could be a danger for inexperienced pilots though. Also, although it had a a reasonable L/D, it was a bit heavy (did the fullsize have a fully sheeted wing - so long ago I can't remember?) and its poor sink rate meant it was best suited to days with strong thermals.
@ralphjohnson40418 ай бұрын
I flew the club Pirat at Talgarth and found the handling quite nice and it’s weak lift climb surprisingly good.
@mikeonb4c8 ай бұрын
@@ralphjohnson4041 Never having flown one, I can only repeat what syndicate members said about it. I was in a K6cr syndicate, and that was a delightful plane for thermalling in small or weak thermals. I've only flown once at Talgarth, in an IS28 as P2 with a very strong westerly blowing. It was quite sporting, and locating the airfield was interesting for a newcomer also, especially with a low sun!
