As a young white woman I LOVE the Motown sound and it hits my heart perfectly. This brotha was so fine and a voice smoother than Vermont maple syrup

How many entertainers can just stand in one spot, near a fence and have you jammin.

Must be weird singing to an all white tv audience (although as in this video, youth music tv studios weren't big enough & not equipped to host live singing and musicians so almost all used lipsyncing to the musical artist's recording ) . If memory serves me it was the host of American Bandstand Dick Clark who desegregated his tv show and audience in the 1950s

When you listen to great, raw performances like this it's hard to believe he originally aspired to be a crooner, a la Nat King Cole!
