Bob does great here, but I kinda feel bad for him because it would be extremely difficult to keep up with the charisma and pitch of Stan. At the time Bugs probably carried enough weight for it to not seem like a big deal, but nowadays after the MCU things are radically different. What a gem of an interview!

This is the group my father Don "Campbellock" Campbell and Toni Basil created. Thank you for sharing this. I have never seen this. What show and what year is this from?
@fromheretoronburgundyАй бұрын
@@dennisdanehy Thanks for sharing that info and commenting. I really like your father's work. The answer to your questions are in the description field for the video, which I have copied below here. I found it on KZbin if you want to watch the whole show, which includes a couple more Lockers appearances. "The music is a variation of "Love the Life You Live" by Kool and the Gang. The woman dancer is Toni Basil. The heavier man dancer is Rerun from the What's Happening TV show. From the ""Lampoon" pilot episode (1974). Source: KZbin."

Three is a great reason why the music sounds like that. At the time, every show, especially variety shows had a house band, which was under a union contract. So there was no way to circumvent the house band. So Toni Basil would take the music the group created the piece to, to someone who could translate it into sheet music, then give the newly written sheet music to the house band to play during their performance. Yeah it was a hassle. But sometimes they had great house bands, like the house band for Saturday night live.

This movie was made too early. The 30's revival in film came about a couple of years later with Bonnie & Clyde, a great movie with more realistic violence, blood and guts than had been seen on American screens. Baker was not a good enough actress to have pulled this role off successfully, so the film flopped. Instead, this movie should have been made in the early 1970's

Yes, I believe they said this was the first known live performance of this particular song, but the group has likely done it again since then, and they do other songs of his. I totally agree that it would be wonderful if we had more live performances of his music and other lounge or popular instrumental/orchestral music like it nowadays.
