Good advice but remember. Don't just put stuff in a bag because someone else said to. Think about what your skillsets are and put stuff in there you actually know how to and will use. And learn as many new skills as you can. For instance might be a good idea to get a small sewing kit and learn to stitch. You can stitch wounds of necessary as well as repair your clothes, bags, chest rigs mag pouches etc. Remember your clothes won't be of much use if they are tattered rags.

You need a bigger bag, small Alice with frame? Molle medium ruck?....maybe
@BoydsRandomness
@BoydsRandomness 4 ай бұрын
Yes a bigger bag would be more ideal, I’ve packed out many times with my large and medium ruck, but I do want a alice pack it’s just not at the top of my prioritys at the moment. I’m curious about how I would do with a smaller pack and what I would need and what I would leave behind. Ideally a small pack isn’t for long term sustainability, but for being able to get out of an area quickly and then cover a large area quickly to move to a safe area. But I also have a thought of keeping this under the backseat of my vehicle so keeping it small is a factor for me. I also need to make a larger pack for staying with my vehicle rather than ditching it aswell.

Nice pack, just FYI tourniquets are not sterile, just packaged to keep clean and dry. You not scared the screwdriver won't puncture a hole in your bag? Stay safe
@BoydsRandomness
@BoydsRandomness 4 ай бұрын
Yeah I knew it wasn’t sterilized, but it was the first word that came to mind for a really clean, but I still would prefer to have one in the package if for some reason I had a arterial bleed from on of my limbs I would first apply one tourniquet high and tight on the limb, and then either get to a safe area or just away from whatever caused the injury and then after I get my bearings I would then go into addressing the wound and then apply the clean tourniquet 2-3 inches above the wound, and then plug and Bandage the wound and depending on how long I had the first tourniquet on take it off slowly to make sure the bleeding doesn’t start again. There was a thought in my head about the screwdriver but there isn’t any force pushing it down into the backpack but I could flip it around to be safe.

Intresting bag, good content you carry, i see useful things, my complaint would be that you skipped one of rules and that is being organized, you poorly fitted things in it, more so just tossed things in, i suggest u reorganize the bag, and it will be much better for you to access stuff from it also you will save 10-15% of space, and also when things are well placed in it, the wight is better distributed and bag will feel much confier on you back
@ronstryker
@ronstryker 4 ай бұрын
If this is your first attempt at a B.O.B, not bad... but you definitely got room for improvement. With that said you might want to rethink the concept of what a BOB is - it's supposed to help you get from point A to point B, how long it takes to do that will depend on how much you need to pack in your bag but generally 3 days or less is preferred for that size of pack. In survival there are a couple of rules that help - the 5 C's of survival, The rule of 2 is 1 and 1 is none, and the rule of 3. The 5 C's of survival are: cutting, combustion, cover, containers, and cordage. The filet knife should be replaced with something more utilitarian, something that can help process wood, skin an animal, and fight with it, it's not going to be best at every job but at least it can do all those jobs. Carry a multitool like a Gerber or Leatherman, don't cheap out and get junk as you might need it to save your skin. Combustion; you can ditch a few of those books of matches and the ones you keep make sure you put them in a ziploc bag (those are your friends especially the heavy duty freezer bags), or change them out for storm matches. A ferro rod will help in case your lighters and matches run out. You got the poncho for cover but what about an extra full change of clothes in case you get totally soaked in the rain or you have to forge a river? A full change of clothes is needed to get dry again as well as to change your appearance in case you are being wanted for something - also a few more pairs of socks. You should have a container to be able to boil water to make it safe to drink as well as make a meal or warm drink. Speaking of water, two other ways to purify it is needed like tablets or filter. Cordage? I think you're set, but have some duct or gorilla tape and zip ties on hand would help. If you have the funds, I would suggest you upgrade your pack the the USGI assault pack or the medium rucksack as you got a lot of stuff that would fit inside as well. Or... you get rid of your mag bandolier and cobra hood to make room for true essential items. If you get another Nalgene bottle and pouch for it you could mount both to the sides of your current pack as well as a cub that could nest to the bottom of the bottle and you now have almost 2 quarts of water on hand and a container to boil water. I hope I pointed you in the right direction.
@BoydsRandomness
@BoydsRandomness 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, i compiled this out of extra stuff that I’m not using that was just lying around my room so it does have alot of holes and extra stuff in it. Like the cobra hood, chem lights, I agree that I would be better to have extra layer/change of clothes instead of cobra hood and depending on what chest rig layout I have if I would want extra mags. The filet knife I had just lying around not getting used but I don’t think it’s a bad option to have seeing how fish how probably be my most likely source of food, I need to also put a mini fishing kit in the bag. But I’ve also used filet knife so skin small games and dress turkeys(mainly because they were the really the only sharps knifes in the house. But I don’t think I would need a bigger more multi purpose knife, for one the advantage of the filet knife is it is really light and for gathering/ wood processing in my experience I’ve done quite well never needed to use tools like axes and saws to collect a decent amount of firewood. In most of the environments I’ve been In there has been a abundance of fallen trees and sticks on the ground aswell as dry dead standing timber that’s easy to knock over, and it’s noisy but i normally just find to think trees near each other to use to process the wood into firewood. I might look into getting a medium ruck for myself or something similar but in my experience I’m not a fan of USGI assault packs especially for a longer movement but this little assault pack is pretty comfortable. Again thanks I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks, If this was my dedicated bug out bag staged and ready at all times I would definitely have extra socks and layers, sleeping bags(at least all I’ve used) tend to take up a lot of space in rucks, so if this was a bigger bag I would put in some more long term gear in like a sleeping bag, but my basis for this back is mobility and moving fair and quick to somewhere safe while having capability doing some survival in the woods if needed to. So what I think would be a good substitute is a emergency thermal blanket plus a emergency bivy would be a alternative for a sleeping bag, wouldn’t work and be as comfortable as a sleep system but you could get by with it so I’m probably going to put something like that in this bag soon and hopefully the scenario would allow to to make a fire for extra warmth. Anyways thanks for the feedback and for watching.
