May you rest in peace Bob. I'm 75 years-old, and Bob Newhart has always been one of my favorites. He was one of the best!

The “new” comedians need to learn from this Master! No whining, sneering or bad language. Just sheer clever comedy!

Right after he died, all kinds of his routines popped up on You Tube. We was very funny, and NO FOUR LETTER WORDS/JOKES like today's comedians do. That shows you they--today's comedians-- cannot write good jokes when they depend upon foul language to get a laugh. I guess I should thank You Tube for giving us all the Bob Newhart routines.

I had the actual LP record "The Button Down Mind of Bob Newhart" and one of my favorite skits is the driving instructor.....hilarious. He will be missed.

He was a master of understated comedy, and even more so because his humor was both funny--and CLEAN!I often felt a little surprised to be laughing because he and his humor were so low-key.

A friend of mine told me about his first day driving a bus. The owner of the the bus station had him drive a bus that had sesame street charactures painted on it. He said that at the first stop, two gals got on. who were quite large. Both named Patty. At the next stop a guy who was very feminine whose name was Special Ross got on. Then this bad ass black dude got on, whose name was Lester T. He said when he looked at mr T in the rear view mirror, he was picking at his foot with a knife. He said to the owner when he finished his first day. No thanks. I picked up two obese Patties, Special Ross, Lester T picking bunions on a sesame street bus.

Brit here....alas, Bob never really became famous in the UK, but you will be glad to know, Bus Drivers in the UK are EXACTLY the Same!!

Another Brit here, too. Indeed, never the star he should have been here. But I grew up with his humour courtesy of my parents and a rather enlightened English teacher. Always been an admirer. I remember the said English teacher showing us the movie “Hell is for Heroes”, where BN played a scene where he was doing a monologue to fool the Germans. Absolutely great.

The gag at the end so true to life. I was on a bus last week and a woman fell due to the driver setting off before she was seated. She had trouble walking as she left the bus. One Bob could have added was pulling away from stops sharply than poodling along at 18mph. slowing following traffic. A great comedian. God bless you Bob.

Funnily enough, that's the kind of skit anyone in any corner of the world (with a public transport system) can relate to. 😂 I've basically had a scenario like this in Berlin, in Dresden, in London, in Salzburg, in Budapest, in Antalya, in Cape Town, in Kalkuta... It's like there's a universal law in the bus driver profession. 😆
