It was built in 1900, not the 20s. Opened as a museum in 1960. I never understood the trend of pipe organs in these mansions. Not exactly music you can rock to. No AC until 1990...just imagine that. Flagler only used it for winter retreats and it just sat there the rest of the year. I don't understand how the humidity didn't cause problems for the interior and furnishings. That view from top of staircase is great. That's where Flagler took his tumble causing his eventual death.

Don't EVER get a job at this place !!!!!!! Toxic classism, nepotism, and greed from directors lack of work home life balance and depending what department you are in lack of hours or days to make the stress you go through worth it and poor HR ! The Greed from management that is so vast they WILL not hire correct numbers of staff in Visitor services, Security, Custodial, Exabits depart and Maintenace the main Departments for running any museum and they still expect the same level of work that is expected of a full staff on a diminished one ...Hell the museum has few actual scientists anymore they have ither died or will retire soon! The custodial for example should be 30 people for day and night ....it is now 12 ! Exhibits should be a staff of about 12- 15 in the Natural history museum alone....they are down to 4 ! and the museum gives excuses and tells staff it is Budget issues while one of the directors gets paid a salary of roughly $150,000 a year got a rais of $25,000 and is getting her office remodeled and they have the nerve to lay off over 30 Employees in the last month in a half alone !!! NEVER WORK HEAR !!!!! Grate place to visit but going to work every day in this place unless your Daddy got you a job because he donated a lot of money is like Gong into Purgatory every day ! if you do get a job hear don't be so stupid enough to pursue it as a career.

Theyre about to play my hometown again. Doing the first 2 records. I just dont know if im down to see this lineup. Plus, I'd prefer them do Rage for Order other than the ep & QOTR. I still may go. Mars Music Hall. Anyone ever wanna cover this front to back. I got the drum parts seared into my brain for life!!!

I know this video is old but it's still awesome. I live like 10 minutes away from here in West Palm Beach. Went there about 5 years ago. I'm excited because I just signed up a high tea on Christmas Eve ❤️❤️❤️ Oh and I love the way when you said he had a pretty awesome view...😂 you have to remember in 1902 none of that was there.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video and visiting the Flagler museum is always exciting and fun. The Christmas Eve event sounds fantastic. It’s a little of the old Florida style and it’s special that we still have it today. 🏖️

General admission for 2 adults and 2 children (w/tax) is about $140.00. Add food, drinks and the abundant snacks and expect to spend closer to $200. I recommend watching Animal Planet and Nature channel documentaries and taking your family to a FREE park, like Wakodahatchee or Green Cay wetlands, located in western Delray/Boynton Beach. (there are others)
