40:37 in. I think that UK citizen has a total different view about in own responsibility and personal committment in regards to common goals than here in Sweden. I have a summer house on the west coast of Sweden and naturally I have had a heat pump for about 15 years and got 3 layer isolation glassing in the whole house a couple of years ago...in my summer house!!! I have also installed a heat pump in the shed. Non of these are economically justafiable but totally justafiable in regards to my role in the system. Most of my neighbors have done the same without any programs from the state. It's not "we and them". We are the country and as citizen we need to understand our role!!! Dreaming should have been mentioned as one of the weaknesses: dreaming of becoming a leader in this, a global player in the other and world beating in whatever else. Although, tbh, that very dreaming also ensures the UK has excellent research and development capabilities. Unfortunately, dreamers are not doers. British industry is one of the least innovative of the OECD countries. The results of said research and development are not applied in Britain but exported.

The reason Boris got so engaged in Ukraine is the same as with most leaders with domestic problems...they love to get involved in other contries conflicts (the theme of the movie "Wag the dog"). Boris didn't need to start a war...just in a populist way show it in rhetoric. According to the Kiel institute UK has contributed 0,3 % of GDP where as my country Sweden has contributed almost 0,7% (0,5+1,9) but much beaten by Baltic states and Denmark where Estonia has given almost 1,8 % (1,6+1,9) of GDP . I do agree that UK is great in given support however to say that they are leading...well...maybe in the rhetoric when Boris was PM (fueled by domestic problems with "party gate" etc. )

53:40ff Jesus Christ, yet another 'expert' participant who has *ZERO* clue what the SM is about. Good woman, the SM is about trade and trade only, not about defence. *OF COURSE* the EU can and probably will cooperate with little brexitannia in defence when she finally - IMO long overdue* - will funnel and concentrate all members' military and defence, analogue to the trade in the SM, but this definitely will not mean the EU grants little brexitannia a kind of trade-in as in preferential access to the SM for the UK's cooperation, should this strange thought be lingering in the back of your head. And let's be clear: the UK as a random 3rd country will not be part of the decision making, but a 2nd tier partner. Greetings from civilization 🇪🇺 *guess what member for decades was one of the worst blocking factors for a more cohesive, stronger common EU defence. @@EllieD.Violet Yes in the context that the SM could help out with military support as well...and that is fine. I just heard on the news that other EU members are buying military equipment from my country Sweden replace weapons sent to Ukraine. Thanks to the SM that is seemless and easy. If they bought it from UK or other counties outside EU it would be more difficult. I think this was the message from her. SM as such is just a term to describe the 4 freedomes (goods, serices people and capital) but has no context without the use of these freedoms. I have no clue what experience you have in the military but it is extremely international, also the trading part...so SM highly implify trade. I have a long history in trading and have a long history before Sweden entered EU in the 90-ties. I have worked in the defence industry and seen this first hand and the huge benefits. I have also been involved in industrial collaborations and seen how great benefit the SM is for all type of goods regardless in what areas but especially in the Military area with common standards and high visibilty of rules for goods that might be part of a larger re-exporting deals. Sooooooo relevant!!! What type of experience do you have in trade and especially in trade with goods that have extra regulations in regards to re-exporting etc?

@@larstenfaelt1859 Since I'm a forensic data analyst by profession naturally I have no experience in trade. One doesn't need to have experience, only a well functioning brain and a knack for logic. I don't get your need to explain the benefits of the SM to me, be it in military equipment or non-military goods. I know the benefits of the SM rather well. All I did was lecture the participants of this discussion about 2 facts: 1) the SM is the internal trade body of the EU and hence not connected to ANYTHING defence related as opposed to what that lady seemed to imply. She explicitly related to the EU extending her potential purchases to source from outside the SM, hence the UK. 2) I reminded her that naturally, given the classification of military equipment, the UK always only would be a 2nd tier participant, and that military cooperation in no effing way could be used by the UK for demanding any kind of trade-in for preferential access to the SM.

The false separation "UK in a changing Europe" implies is at the heart of the cascading catastrophes gaining momentum in UK. The entire population is of European origin. French was the preferred language for centuries of the nobility. British linked royalty led much of Europe. Yet today the little island of 76 million does everything possible to distance itself from Europe. Comically many Brits consider themselves closer to America located 3,000 miles away than to Europe only 35 miles away by tunnel. America's companies are taking full advantage of this foolishness as it "invades" UK slowly consuming more business.
