How how in the hell do u keep the faces simetrical I'm working on it right now and they look so disperpotion
@creativelychrissy
@creativelychrissy 4 ай бұрын
So faces in real life aren’t actually symmetrical, but of course our eyes and brains work together to correct that so that most faces do look symmetrical to us. The faces in this video were not being drawn head on, though. Most were in angled views (like 3/4 for example) which do not really require symmetry. Proportion and, believe it or not, perspective are key here. All I can suggest is that you draw the faces and then try drawing them again. Try drawing them upside down, too, to trick yourself into seeing shapes and not facial features, because that is what usually trips people up. Our brains have a way of filling in blanks that sometimes we don’t need filled, and we have to remind ourselves to draw what we see (shapes) and not what our brain sees (nose, eyes, mouth, etc.). You can study the rules of proportions of the face, but they are more so a guideline than a rule, in my opinion. Not all faces follow it, and it can become a hindrance in certain applications!

I have been very sick, which WASN'T the plan at all. Ugh. I think it's been a weird year for a lot of us. I'm glad to see you back. Thanks for chatting about making friends as an adult a little bit, as well- the struggle with that is REAL. I'm in my 40's and moved to California a few years ago (ironically, I loved from Florida- SW coast) and finally ready to find some community and connections with other creative people and it seems like the rules of friendship and meeting people have changed so much with the advent of social media and apps- neither of which I really want to utilize to meet people. I guess the age of just "bumping into" people (either online or offline) and just hitting it off or having things in common and communicating back and forth are over. That breaks my heart quite a bit, but it' also motivated me to just devote myself further to my art making, which took a hit this year with my hands suddenly out of commission (looks like an RA diagnosis is imminent for me.)
@creativelychrissy
@creativelychrissy 5 ай бұрын
@@gingerblue I am so sorry to hear that. As someone who also has a chronic condition, I understand, at least, in some small way, how difficult it can be to live with such a thing. It hardly seems fair, and it definitely is never part of the plan. ☹ I hope you find the answers you seek as well as your own ways to cope, mentally and physically! It is SO hard to make friends as an adult! I have found the most success through groups (finding them does mean looking at Facebook and/or Instagram, though) that are in your area for your age group that are doing things that you are interested in. I find unless its kind of known that everyone in a group or situation are looking for friends and/or want to be sociable, it's almost socially incorrect to approach people you don't know just to talk to them or to meet them, even. I am sorry about the potential diagnosis. I do not know much about RA despite the fact it is, unfortunately, becoming more and more common. However, the small silver lining is that there is a ton of research being done on it. However, until you are actually diagnosed, I wouldn't go looking at what is suggested for treatment/improving quality of life while living with this condition quite yet. I do hope that things get better for you, though!

I have a pretty serious chronic illness (born with Spina Bifida) and as I get older, the everyday tasks associated with self-care grow quite a bit, so I'm definitely not hitting any of my creative goals or productivity goals at all. It's hard not to be completely bummed out by that, I have to admit- it's a little soul crushing. I keep telling myself that if I had just taken the time to doodle a little every day, or splash some watercolor on a page in my journal these last few years- nothing big deal, just simple things- I would have quite a body of work to look at. But I keep thinking if I create, it has to be meaningful and "worthy", so I wind up stalling out. But the past few months I have taken the big step of embracing the fact that I am struggling with something quite big with my health (up until this point I really got mad at myself for not being able to "do it all" even though I have been quite ill...) and that if I want to be creative, I need to figure out a way to do it with the reality of my entire life. So that's the plan for me going forward. I enjoy these videos. You seem super organized and determined, which is a motivational boost for those of us hoping to level up a little with our personal goals.
@creativelychrissy

C.M., thank you for taking the time to leave the comment you did. It really meant a lot to me to read it. I think, unfortunately, regardless of what we're dealing with in life, we still put this pressure on ourselves to achieve more or to use our spare time for things society would consider "productive". Whenever we read about people who have accomplished things, like owning their own business or, more specifically, in an artist's case, producing a large body of work, we hear about how they would stay up late after work or wake up super early to give themselves the time they needed to fill a sketchbook page or two. We get this sense that you have to work really hard, and I don't doubt that we do. But there's nothing wrong with going at your own pace and respecting your mind and body. We might not get there as fast as those people that are willing to sacrifice their health and, maybe, their mental well-being (which really is, also, health), but we will get there eventually, at our own pace. I can see why you feel you should be making more art. It doesn't sound like much, right? A half hour daily to dedicate to something you usually enjoy doing. But when it's forced because we don't feel up to doing it or even want to do it at that point, it seems like such a difficult thing to promise. There are days I wake up, and I'm just not in the mood. Or I am in the mood, and like you said, I feel like whatever I create should be meaningful or "worthy". Something I have been learning in multiple aspects of life, not just art, is simply being is worthy enough. So I guess what I'm saying is, if you don't feel up to it, don't do it. Your body is telling you something. You should listen. But if you do feel up to it, do it. Even if it's just putting a straight line on a page. The simple act of creating something--even if it's not good or meaningful--is worthy simply because whatever you made now exists. Idk if that makes sense, but another way to put it would be every bit of art you create is doing something. Either it's a masterpiece and you love it; you want to show it to the world. Or maybe it was cathartic. Or maybe you learned something. Maybe it's so ugly but you look at it and you think to yourself, I could change this thing here or this thing there, and it will look better; let me try again. It all has its purpose, good and bad art. Haha. And all are worthy and meaningful in different ways. I'm so glad you enjoy these videos. I do love sharing them with you guys, even the months where I don't accomplish much because I figure at least one person needs to be reminded that that's okay. I think I also want to start sharing the moments where I don't like my art because hopefully we can begin to change how we approach art that is "bad" even though I hesitate to call it that. I think all art is "good" art because it serves a purpose: to look beautiful, to teach us a lesson, to be the precursor to something better down the line.

I will say, that as an iPad user, I HATE shorts because KZbin doesn’t separate them from the sub feed on their iPad app. So all these ten second ads for everyone’s longer videos is driving me nuts. I click the wrong video all the time, so I’ve resorted to hiding shorts on my feed, which probably sucks for the algorithm, but is necessary for my sanity. I don’t mind ones that are actual new content, but the recap and clip ones drive me nuts. I just need KZbin to fix the sub feed so you have shorts separate, like in the regular app.
