Thank you for your sharing! I am accepted by the Queen University in the Arts program to learn the economics. Do I have chance to participate in the commerce program? And when I am in the arts program, could I can take the electives courses about the commerce like the HR or accounting such like those. ?

Hi Feng! Thank you for the questions. As it's been a few years since I was at Queen's, my knowledge is a little dated. I'd highly recommend you reach out to the Faculty of Arts and Science with these questions. You can also get in touch with the Queen's Commerce High School Liaison - they are a group of students available to answer your questions or point you to someone who can! facebook.com/QueensCommerceHSL

hey I know this video is pretty old, so how were your job prospects after graduation?
@RunningErins
@RunningErins 4 жыл бұрын
hi Charlotte! When I was in fourth year, the employment rate within 6 months of graduation was around 97-98%, and I believe it's the same today. I also had quite a few friends who received return full-time offers after a successful summer internship (not possible for me as I worked at the school for the summer). Because of my original interest in advertising agencies, I skipped the initial hiring period at the beginning of the school year as agencies typically hire in the spring. However, in January of my fourth year, I attended the Queen's Marketing Association Conference (QMAC) for students and realized that the agency life was not for me. At this conference, I met a recruiter for a tech company, interview a month later, and got the position! I still work there today! Throughout fourth year, there are tons of networking and hiring events run by the career center, students conferences that are sponsored by companies in any industry, and then of course the online job posting portal. Finding a job post graduation would not be something to stress about if you decided to attend Smith. :)

@RunningErins
@RunningErins 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, quite a few! Group projects are a huge part of the program (but not all of it). 90% of the classes you take will include some sort of group presentation, project, report, or assignment. This is great as most companies look for team experiences in candidates.

Hey I love the videos, so glad I found them! Quick question, how long is each class?
@RunningErins
@RunningErins 7 жыл бұрын
Approximately 75 minutes twice per week! So an 8:30am-10am class would usually end around 9:45 to give you time to get to your next class. There are a few classes that are 3 hours once a week.

is queens commerce hard ?
@RunningErins
@RunningErins 7 жыл бұрын
Hey! It's definitely not easy, but if you manage your time well then it is quite manageable. Most commerce students are involved in 1-3 extra curriculars while they are here and still maintain the required grade average. There are also tons of support options for students like professor office hours, optional tutorials, and tutors.

@RunningErins

Hey! You give Queen's your top 5 choices for room types, and then as long as you pay your deposit on time you get put in a lottery and it is random which type of room you get!

hi! just a quick question :) do you have to eat at the caf or can you bring your food to go? do you usually eat with friends or alone? thanks :)
@RunningErins
@RunningErins 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Natalie! When I was in first year you were not allowed to remove food from the cafeteria. Obviously you can get food to go at other places on campus! I usually ate with friends (classmates/floormates) but sometimes due to schedule conflicts or my stomach doing it's own thing I would eat by myself!

@RunningErins
@RunningErins 8 жыл бұрын
Hello! You would want to talk to Queen's Financial Aid to see what you would qualify for. OSAP is also an option for Ontario residents. Lots of students also have part-time jobs to have pay for school. Your bank can also give you more information on student loans.

I was wondering what grades did you obtain in high school in order to get into this program? How many extra curricular should I take in high school?
@RunningErins
@RunningErins 8 жыл бұрын
Hey! So for Queen's Commerce, the grade cut off is an 87% average for your top six courses, automatically included in these top six are Grade 12 English, Calculus, and one other math (advanced functions or data management). Once you are above this 87%, it is entirely based on the Personal Statement of Experience (all Queen's applicants write this) and your supplementary essays (2 specific to commerce students). There is no set number of extra curricular, but I highly suggest getting involved in something you enjoy, or volunteering in your community.
