Saw another drive thru video of Lorain now, and the bank at 1:17 has only the four pillars left standing today. So sad.

Hello, great video! I am currently working on a story about the history of Lorain and the tornado. Would you consider lending us the use of any of the images in the video? We would give you all due respect, props, credit, etc. Thanks, Dan

Lorain ohio used to be a great hard working city, clean, people was friendly, great city. Now skip to today, it is full of trash all over the city streets in downtown lorain and east side lorain is garbage, people have no respect, no morals, shows how everything is upside down these days compared to how great it once used to be in Lorain, Ohio

Nice to look back but I noticed Lorain wasn't as cosmopolitan back then. Almost all white faces. Glad it's changed in that respect. Good music for the background.

i wish lorain ohio still used to be the way it was back in those days. lorain be such a beautiful, clean, hard working city, these days today in lorain ohio is garbage, thanks to the hip hop culture, the mentality of minorities with no class and no morals and then it influences white kids to be trash just like them, its sad. but we can make Lorain Ohio great again by taking the trash out and make Lorain beautiful once again and hard working.

well they keep voting democrat in cities like lorain, cleveland, youngstown, toledo, columbus, detroit, nyc, and so on, there is no future unless people clean up there ways, stop voting for the leftist morons, things be way better. but also minorities ruin the cities as well with there no class, no morals, no intelligence, but only slum mentality, till that all changes, things will stay miserable, that is why i moved the hell out of that area and i am living great.

I graduated in 1964, and was in the first sophomore class in 1961. Went to Garfield elementary, then Washington at the end of 4th grade, then Hawthorne. In the video at 2:09 is a photo of The Kandy Korner at 23rd & Bdwy, with a row of new cars in front of it. My parents ran the Kandy Korner from 1947 to 1958 and we lived above the store. It was torn down around 1984. Yesterday I viewed the rubble of AKHS.

It's true Toni Morrison left Lorain just as everyone leaves their town. It doesn't make it bad, it's just that you want something different. Besides when someone "comes" from a town, that speaks volumes about that community.

Internationally acclaimed author, Toni Morrison, is a native of Lorain, but she, like most other educated blacks, left for a better life. It worked for Toni . . . :)

A wonderful song, and Lorain was in its glory in the 1960s when I came of age. You could get a job anywhere - Ford, steel mill, GM in Elyria, shipyards, Thew, etc. The rust belt of America is just that, and it started when companies outsourced work to areas of cheap labor - first our southern states, then other places around the globe. Manufacturing in the US will come back only if we reduce business taxes for companies with jobs for US citizens here. the Clambaker. AKHS 1964

Poor gregscooter feels left out. Poor gregscooter wants to see black faces in which ever direction he turns and every image he sees. Further, he believes that nothing whatsoever matters or has anything of value in it unless somehow, somewhere a person with black skin is seen or mentioned. Guess what, Scooter, you're wrong. And you are a racist. Just another crummy black racist.

I moved from Lorain in '91, and I now live in Texas...I realized watching this that the "Lorain" I remember is more than 30 years gone. Here's to the Dreamland, Tivoli, Ohio, Lanza's, Scott's, Heilman's Ranch House, Twin City Cab, El Campito sans sidewalks, and so much more, my old home town...goodnight. P.S.- with me gone, who points the cannon at City Hall these days?
