I have this Catalina Club Jazz kit with mahogany shells and it is amazing. The sound can be as big or as small as you want. The quality is much better than you would expect for the price. I've owned a bunch of other brands, sizes and models since the 60's, playing rock, pop, Motown and jazz, and this kit can do it all. Mine is the new round badge model which has the copper sparkle wrap that is no longer available. It's a keeper.

Fabulous ride cymbal pattern on Sunflower by Paul Weller played by the fabulous Steve White, which e freely admits is his take on “The King Kong Beat” played by David Garribaldi.

Very very NICE! All the way around. Sound, tuning, and especially playing. I have this kit. I put Gretsch 302 hoops all the way around, as well as the RIMS GTS style mount in place of the mini GTS. Couldn't be happier with them. On a side note, I also have a USA Custom BOP in Piano Black with minor mods (Ordered with direct to shell tom mount, Gretsch rail consolette, vintage spurs, Claw hooks, and T-rods) and when it come to picking a kit for a gig between these two, it's a tough decision, every time.

Sounds great. What is your opinion on the quality of hardware of this kit?
@jodydrummer Жыл бұрын
+Emilio Carpino Thanks! The Quality of the hardware is good enough💪🏽
@boomerguy993511 ай бұрын
In most cases, the kits don't include hardware. The sellers will include them if you want but most drummers already have their favorites of different brands. In my case, I have different brands and models of footpedal, hi-hat stand and cymbal stands. Then within that group, I have preferred brands for the different ride and crash cymbals. I even change hoops, heads, snare wires and other parts for individual sounds.

If I can play all of those beats just by listening to this for the very first time, would you say I was a good syncopator? Serious question and no joke
@jodydrummer Жыл бұрын
Good question! Yes and no. It’s a Lesson created for beginners.
@arturkasza3176 Жыл бұрын
Matter of taste of course but I don't think any muffling is needed for that kit. It kind of deadens these very resonant drums, making them boxy. It sounds particularly well in mid-high to high tuning, it gets that singing vibe. Matter of taste again.
@jodydrummer Жыл бұрын
+Artur Kasza Thanks arthur. I understand what you say. Ik prefer the drums Without Any muffling. For some Bands (different styles) I prefer damping a little bit and for the traditional styles I prefer the open sound. 💪🏽
@arturkasza3176 Жыл бұрын
@@jodydrummer Yes, sure, it's a matter of taste and of the context of course. I've got the previous version of this set, with teh square badge, I think the current version is a notch better in terms of quality and sound. I think I would be going between different head set-ups, this is what I want explore.
@boomerguy993511 ай бұрын
I agree. I have the New Round Badge version of this kit and no muffing is needed on anything! The adjustability of the tuning is amazing!
