The Rancho Los Amigos site goes way back in time. It includes a hospital complex and rehabilitation facilities. At one time, the site was where the LA County health department took care of children with polio with a huge ward with iron lungs to keep children breathing during the polio epidemics before polio vaccine existed in the 1950's.

sorry, though you "say" you are in Long Beach, it looks more like Dominguez Hills way above where the river empties. Maybe you should get a map or go up and look at street signs.

The only info I know and could find is that it was at the beginning The Pacific electric RR. And then later on it was used for freight service SP RR ( southern Pacific Railroad) but the branch name I really don't know only know it started in the Las Angeles area of watts and all the way down to santa Ana merging to the other union pacific line in that area!
