The idea that Starfleet would intentionally use oberth class ships in any battle seems like murder to me. They’re doomed from the start. On that same note in DS9 pilot they showed civilians and children on the Saratoga, going into a battle with what was perceived to be a last stand against the borg. Why? Again that seems like murder and not a tactical oversight or negligence to me. Why wouldn’t the at the very least transfer the civilians and children, basically nonessential personnel onto the oberths ,which were pointless to having there, and have them removed from danger. Yes that would defeat the “I lost my wife, friends, and ship to Picard and the borg” plot line but it is what would at a minimum make sense. How can you even justify leaving onboard while preparing for battle, hell even if they couldn’t spare the oberths they still had warp capable shuttles they could’ve been loaded onto. It’s just maddening when I see idiotic choices like these from writer that honestly have no idea what they’re doing and how a navy ship would act. It’s like renaming the Titan-A to Enterprise-G for some idiotic reason.

We'll ignore the fact the Intrepid, Defiant, and Akira classes were still on the drawing boards during Wolf 359 and were rushed into development after the Borg incursion, and just before the Dominion War.

Really bad editing. You switch from standard cube to a tactical cube, and use clips of modern ships that didn't even exist at Wolf 359

Why did they decommission all those good ships (Galaxy-D, Intrepid-Voyager, Defiant, Akira-Class, Nebula-class, Saber-class...)? The Excelsior-class had a hull-life of 80 years and even exceeded that.

Great vid, my only critique would be calling it the "Final Cruise" of the D. We thought Generations would be the last we saw of her, and Picard proved us wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up again at some point, ready to explore and push the boundaries of what's known.

Couldnt ask for a better ending to the story of this Enterprise. Pressed into service for one final heroic mission by her old crew, to at long last, rest in a place of honor at the Starfleet Museum, to be visited and admired by millions of people for generations to come. A FAR better ending than laying on the surface of Veridian 3, a lonely and obscure planet, rusting away and succumbing to the elements.

"I rest, but only lightly. If called I stand ready to do again the things that I was born to do and if I fall in the doing do not mourn me. Know instead that I met my end with courage and remember me that way. My name is Enterprise." The note about the ship "resting lightly" is a nod to another historic ship which was retired after WWII but was returned to action an unprecedented three times. "When Captain Peniston took the podium at the ship’s 1969 decommissioning ceremony, he spoke directly to the ship, saying: “. . . rest well, yet sleep lightly, and hear the call, if again sounded, to provide ‘firepower for freedom’ [the ship’s motto].” The battleship New Jersey (BB 62) was returned to service for the third time in 1982.

BRILLIANT editing...anyone can throw clips together, but taking the time to hit certain details like a cube firing green torpedoes and going to the green Klingon torpedoes and THEN to the Odyssey which took a hit RIGHT where the Klingon torpedo was aimed is just a NICE piece of work.

Seeing a video like this of the resurrection of the Enterprise D reminds me of that video I saw of the resurrection of the Constitution Refit Class U.S.S. As she powered up and emerged from Bay 12 it seemed to this old man that she was saying "I have one last adventure and one good fight left in me. Let's make it one for the history books." In "Measure of a Man" an Admiral visiting the ship said "For 500 years every ship that has carried the name Enterprise has become a legend. This one is no different." He was going to become more right than anyone could guess at the time. "... and we must succeed! Let's ensure that history never forgets the name ... Enterprise!" They aren't going to forget Jean Luc, never.

@@robertf3479 Yea she couldn't do that...I'm sure she couldn't perform a half roll in under 3 seconds at full impulse with a thousand people on board either....oh, oops, she did. You let episodes of DS9 and a slow moving Galaxy cloud your judgement. First, in a battle where ships are literally just meters off your hull, you don't just speed around. Second, that cube was 10 times the size of the J25 cube, she had PLENTY of room to speed around at full impulse. Also with no thousand strong crew or their belongings, no cargo and Data at the helm, I mean do you need a slide rule to figure this out? We ate it up because it's believable.
