Saw him at Cheltenham Town Hall several times. Loved his music and his unique voice! He has been sadly missed...

This is sensational. Bought myself an record player and detected my old times favorite record: „foundations“. And now I found this here. John singing shortly before passing away … Friends caught his voice between earth and heaven and made a intimate album out of it. This is pure goosebumps to me. I had expieriences between heaven and earth myself, like many us, I think. Thank you, John.

Saw him play one of the last gigs at Les Cousins. He had a sore throat and could only play...but what an evening......he passed rum around .....not my drink...probably just as well. Odd thing was the next night my sister met his wife Beverley on a charity Thames cruise....JM was too ill to be there...small world eh? Followed him throughout his career....sorely missed yes.....

Saw him in Manchester not long before he died. He was sublime. He moved gently from folk to jazz. A shining talent. Beautiful track. Sadly missed.
