I put off getting a rifle in 6.5 for as long as I could. I would carry my .270 or 30.06, and have to put up with the guys I hunt with yelling out “CREEDMOOR” every time they dropped an animal. Earlier this year I picked up a Savage Precision in 6.5, and man I have fallen in love with that rifle! I can’t find ammo that it doesn’t shoot sub MOA with.

What long was the barrel was and how many grams did your bullets have

@@andressantos6876 24” barrel and it shoots everything I put in it sub MOA. My hunting ammo is hand loaded Hornady 129 grain soft points, and my target ammo is either Hornady 140 grain HPBT or Hornady 147 grain ELD Match. All hand loads and all 1/2” MOA or better.

@@johnknouse8846 It is very surprising what I have seen in your video make this incredible bullet I have hunted 2 times in South Africa and I have found a lot of weeds that do not allow clear shots, which with the 300 win mag of 200gr is a great help I do not know if in your experience has it been the same?

all shots NO clean kills. all animals still running. 6.5 may be good enough for deer but not for african game. irresponsible caliber choice , thumbs down.

edgar hansen Are you smoking something special there my friend or are you just jealous? You obviously haven’t hunted much I guess? I’ve seen animals even up to elephants run after having received perfectly placed shots in the vital heart/lung area with a 470NE. I could dumb it down a bit more for you but I don’t have enough crayons...

Edgar, are you being sarcastic? If not, do a little history work on the use of "little" 6.5s in Africa during the early and mid 20th century. Hell, Bell killed elephants with one.

Edgar you must have never hunted ever just to let u know all animals react differently when being shot. Saw with my own 2 eyes a guy shot a deer with a 50 cal bmg 750 A-Max at 100yds and it still ran..and it was a heart shot too

@@dinsixiengmay9781 dude a guy who shoots a deer with a 50cal is a fucking idiot and his guns should be taken away. lets cut this crap. 6.5 is not the IDEAL CALIBER CHOICE FOR AFRICAN BIG GAME. is it possible, sure, but where i come from a clean killshot looks different. 95 % of all ethic hunters would choose way bigger calibers for africa like . 375 H&H Magnum, 416 Rigby, 458 Lott. 7mm Remington Magnum. or maybe 338 Lapua. technically you can stone a fucking bull elk with a .22 if you are really lucky and hit the right spot in the brain. is it ideal? NO goddammit. the 6.5 is an amazingly flat shooting, super precise long range cartidge. but the fucking projectile is quite light, has way less stopping power and thus is a suboptimal choice for big animals.

@@pholzman2918 what exactly are you talking about when you mean 6.5? if you are talking about a 264 Win Mag, then yes, that is a quite powerful caliber, its been around for quite some time and it is sure sufficient for african game. in THIS case we are talking about the 6.5 CREEDMORE which is way less powerful and it is available since only 2008. So "history work " is not gonna help much here and the 2 calibers can not be compared at all...

Nope, in South Africa game farms need to have higher fences for bigger game, ex. Fences for kudu must be 2.4 m high, according to law

My guy that farm is massive if I remember it is 12 000 hectares devided into 5 fenced areas and you can't not have fences or else they will walk off to the sheep farm that is nearby😂

I hunted a high-fenced ranch in RSA many years ago, it was 90,000 Hectares split into two blocks. Nothing easy about hunting on that.

This would be a safe plains game hunt without the risk of random dangerous game including the most dangerous of all, the malaria carrying mosquitos. He is hunting with his children. A "purist" could always hunt in an area with those risks, but not with his children. Just my opinion.
