What about hydrogen tanks? Those have an inventory, but its is inacessible to most items, save for hydrogen/oxygen bottles. Would those act as a layover as well or do they operate as a direct conveyor line?

That is really strange. F11 or Shift+F11 is a debug menu you can get an error log from. Paste it in the mods discussions, google drive, or pastebin. I'll try to find your server and join it.

Your points about: No pay to Win, no extra grind and if you lose, that it's not much of a loss, are great. 2000 block ships hugging it out while maintaining a good speed does sound pretty interesting!

I also have had the idea (but never the skills to implement it, sadly) to run different parts of the servers on different CPUs, when I wanted to run a Minecraft Server. Is this NEXUS software exclusive to Space Engineers? Your server does peak my interest and at some point, I might play there. I do have some questions first though, which hopefully most will be cleared up, if you sent me an invite to your discord server. I haven't found the link to that in any of your video descriptions. So, you said you don't like it when people cheese base defenses by digging through voxels, which I totally agree with. However, I want to know, if on your server, I would be allowed to make a base that is dug into the cliffside or into a mountain. Meaning, the front would be normal grid blocks, but the sides and rear and top and bottom would mostly be surrounded by terrain. I like these bases, because they give you a tactical advantage in terms of what angles you have to defend from. I'm currently working on such a base in a survival world with a couple friends. I don't think it causes much lag either, so I hope you would allow it. Speaking of lag, in your video about the lag moderation bot and your other videos, you said you are gonna do more tutorials and give us more insight on lag prevention.

You should mention that this is a tutorial for your server. Nexus basics doesn't tell you anything when you the viewer doesn't know what a nexus means. Like fortress games nexus tutorial. Mentioning space engineers server in your title would also help the algorithm.

Actually good tipps! I hope your server does give you enough PCU to not actually worry about the additional conveyor ports needed. If I understood your correctly, your server performance impact is not primarily build on PCU limits, but rather the ACTUAL CPU consumption of your grids? I do hope you can have at least 8 drills in your server.

That's why I don't like moded railguns from very different mods. They usually aren't that balanced in comparison to another. One might be too powerful, while the other is too weak.

i can fullheartidly support the sentiment of being mindfull of oneselves but also others peoples ressources. As a programmer who regularly took over old code to refacture it, make it faster, use up less time and processing power and avoiding to buy new hardware for myself if i can help it to again not waste ressources aka money for something that if made well wouldn't need so much processing power. Coming from that area, Space Engineers has a few options that can be tweaked. f.e. i heared from admins and read that you should not leave conveyor ports open, as then every cycle there will need to be made a check if its open, if something could go through there. Then there are some mods that could help a bunchm, like those that give x5 or x10 length conveyors so when you build bigger grids, connecting one end to the other with a conveyor system would not be too much of a dragg on your system. There is a piping mod that allows for even larger connections while being flexible in its lengths and also a cargo teleporter mod whereby i wish this was available in a teared fashion only to get access through research as having those right of the batch will discourage the use of vanilla conveyors, yes these are that good. Equally there are armor mods with x5 x10 m2 panels, light and heavy armor blocks, there is a well made bunker mod with large pieces to create durable bunkers. There are mods and tweaks how you can improve drilling, refining/extraction, sofar when it comes to production the best solution still seems to be limiting the amount of assemblers allowed paired with a tiered system if them. Otherwise if everyone has 20+ assemblers as players may think that would reduce the waiting period of producing a few steelplates, it may turn out to ruin everyonce day and therefor the autoadmin is a good thing to have. Limiting drills also good to avoid lag spikes, i mean it is impressive to gulp down that astro in one go, but not at the cost of the server rack going bust ^^ On the other hand i am also as so many i huge fan of convenience and while i haven't been on this server, if you dont already have, have a look at the quantum tether mod (there is another for energy/health replenishing it within a certain area at the cost of more and more energy the wider that area is defined other mods just reduce the o2 usage) and imagine the flow state of a builder being constantly interrupted by having to get energy, components, air ... I think these survival aspects of survival games have gone stale quickly and could be maybe made a bit more bareable so one can concetrate on things that one wants to achiev.
@StarWarsExpert_
@StarWarsExpert_ Ай бұрын
Do you mean tiered system as in a way to upgrade them? Like tier 1 assembler with X speed, tier 2 ect. on top of the upgrades done by the modules you can attach to them?
@kinngrimm
@kinngrimm Ай бұрын
@@StarWarsExpert_So tiered assembler mods of those i have seen and was refering to would have increasing production speed and increasing costs often paired with some exotic ressources you then would have to mine. Though i have heared that bulk production recepies would be even better yet for performance, Tiered Moduls are neat, as they may work accross different blocks and thereby have also some convenience built in. There is also module mod where the single moduls take up a lot of space and are as big as a refinery with a well designed custom block. the steam workshop has some amazing mods and i screened many hours the offerings and would still not claim to have seen it all hrhr

space engineers has the mark of microsoft developers all over it, great game, but objectively terrible software. once i eliminated my final windows server from my rack (switched it from win server 2015 to so i could add it to my Proxmox cluster) i decided it wasn't even worth trying to fuck with the SE server to run under proton or wine. the client has also gotten worse over the years and i'm not upgrading my GPU just for SE.

I would call it "shoddy programming" if daisy chaining causes more load than the second layout where you have everything connected via conveyor pipe only without any daisy chaining whatsoever... Like, seriously, in a conveyor-network all possible locations should be know and stuff should just instantly be moved from one place to another without checking all the connections in between. Only when a block is added or removed to the conveyor-network should the network be recalculated and then we have the new connection layout again. The fact that dais chaining has any performance impact period baffles me...
@Yukimaru0
@Yukimaru0 2 ай бұрын
If you watch the vid you would know the problems come from the items having to be deposited into every storage container before being moved to the next one. I can see easily why that would cause issues vs just going from storage a to b even if it's all the way across your ship.

A lot of programming decisions in Space Engineers are truly baffling to me, too. For a company supposedly “working in AI for over a decade,” their enemy AI, AI programming blocks, and every product demo on that side of the business has been laughably bad compared to industry standards. It’s why I’m so skeptical of their “Crime Prevention” drone program in South Africa.

@@incendiarypoprocks8700 Don't forget that the current game is actually VERY different from what it was and what is was supposed to be. They had an engine for collisions, voxels and building shit. And the players asked more and more, PvP, larger grids, Planets, infinite playspace etc etc, ALL stuff that they worked into their engine that was NOT made for this. Thats why people have some more hope for their supposedly SE2 engine, cause those things WILL be thought out BEFORE they implement them.

the only problem i can see building like this is it actually reduces redundancy. I build in a way that if my home base were to ever be attacker and even if one section of the conveyor system were to be damaged, items can still move where they need to go. you would essentially need to take out the whole conveyor grid or power to the base all together for my production capabilities to be cut off.
