The time I finished my studies that at one of the Colleges of Education in Nigeria, I started teaching at one of the secondary schools. My brother was a university graduate. He, too, was a teacher. He tried to encourage me to study further. I refused. He told me that I was a little educated person. That is, I am an illiterate person. With anger, I applied for a sandwich programme at one of the universities, filling the forms consciously with an incomplete information so that that I wouldn't be admitted. I just wanted to prove to my brother that I had applied for an admission. Unfortunately, I was admitted. I felt a terrible anger at the university that admitted me. But, there was no excuse for my brother. As I showed him my admission letter unwillingly, he congratulated me. In my mind, I told him, "Congratulate yourself !" Today, I am very happy that I am a university graduate. I am no more a little educated person. Still, according to Odumeje, I am an illiterate person.
