To easily diagnose rod knock, just disable spark on the offending cylinder with engine running at idle. If knock goes away, it’s the rod.

Energysuspension bushings review: There are a lot of issues with these bushings, some are not manufacturers' fault, others - are. And I am not talking about price - this is something the buyer at least knows in advance. 1. Their claim that all it takes is "some smoke from the bushing to separate the sleeves from rubber" is outright lie. It may be the case with jeep but certainly not with Toyota - you need to torch it for a long time to actually burn rubber off. 2. The fact that they don't provide sleeves with the bushings is simply ridiculous. Especially considering price. In fact, I would not mind paying extra so that I did not have to dicect the old bushings, and the first issue is minor compared to this one. It is pretty common for bolts/sleeves freeze in bushings so it's virtually impossible to separated them from inner bushing sleeves without damaging. It may not be an issue with jeeps and fords because their bushings are replaced on a regular basis but Toyota bushings last so long that it's practically unavoidable to face this. In my case, the truck is 17 yo with 230,000 miles, and the original bushings were still good. The only reason I had to replace them was installation of lift and JBA upper control arms that required alignment that couldn't be performed because - you guessed it - one bolt and one cam sleeve were frozen. After 17 years in the Midwest and N-E, is should not come as a surprise. This condition requires a hell of a lot of heating and pounding, pounding and heating, and then it's a real PITA to attach the [original] washers to most likely damaged bushing sleeves. 3. The last issue is design - there are no lubrication means. And don't tell me it's impossible - just look at JBA upper control arms. I installed grease fitting in control arm ears and drilled holes in the bushings to allow grease flow to inner sleeves. Hope it will work. Overall, bushing material is probably adequate but pure inexcusable greed that prevented the manufacturer from providing lower bushing sleeves and washers (even for extra $$) is beyond ridiculous. Bottom line: if your vehicle is 10+ yo and has spent that time in places where winter happens every year, expect MAJOR (BIGLY!) hassle installing these bushings. Or - MUCH BETTER OPTION - buy from another manufacture that does provide all necessary coponents and does not force to wash and reuse condoms because reusing bushing sleeves is just as ridiculous as reusing condoms.

When to the wrecking yard to pick up some rocker arms how to i know if their bad? Or good?? Found a set that had no play on them when installed but when i took them off the head the little plunger on the rocker are very stiff. Is that normal?

I am not planning on reusing this particular rocker at this time. I have several sets and the set that this one came from had multiple that were stuck/bad.

Can you do a video on the disassembly of one? Also, are the good ones those that are springy and the bad ones are those that are not? Or is that because during disassembly the oil drains out of some and will not be springy until the get re pressurized with oil again?

hey was it hard to install on ur z32 i have the same greedy one trying to put it on my z32 just wondering how it works if u run into any problems
@jessesgarage61836 жыл бұрын
Hey! The z32 is a bit more involved than most other applications, but not difficult, to set up. If your car is a factory twin turbo car, and not a swapped car like mine, there are some additional steps that have to be taken to disconnect the factory boost control. The biggest/hardest decisions, otherwise, are just were to mount everything and how you prefer to plumb all the vacuum hose to get everything setup. I am happy to report that mine has worked flawless. It is important to keep in mind the Greddy controller, as well as many other controllers, are a duty cycle style boost controller and require you to dial in the boost level instead of just setting a desired boost level and it automatically doing everything else. I've been meaning to put up a video detailing the install. Here is some excellent info that includes some basic diagrams. forums.nicoclub.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-z32-t508377.html

What year is your Z bro you need to go up a size on the rotor to really consider it an upgrade the pads alone wont do much if you have an early 89-90 model. Mine suck!
@Harmageddon6 жыл бұрын
If you go on z1 there is an upgrade to get 350z rotors. That is the most bang for your buck.
@jessesgarage61836 жыл бұрын
The thing that has steered me away from the Z33 front rotor upgrade is brake balance, id need some sort of upgrade to the rear to offset it or change the metering (which i really don't want to do). I have considered their full Akebono brake kit but that's outside the budget currently. For now the current upgrades are really solid for what i'm doing with the car.
@brianheiden66236 жыл бұрын
Really I have an early 90 which I love more than life itself but I have to say the brakes are a joke. Maybe yours is a later model with the larger brakes. How much power are you running that might be it to.
@jessesgarage61836 жыл бұрын
Mine actually has the smaller 90 non turbo model rotors. They drop the size difference in rotors after the 90 model year because of the complaints over the brakes. They did change the caliper material in later years to iron instead of aluminum, the performance benefit of which is debatable. The mods iv'e done really did make a huge difference, stopping distance, brake fade, and pedal feel, are all significantly better. Stainless lines, fluid and the brake pads especially, really made a night and day difference.
