Can one mine for fossils or cool minerals? Or do you need a license?

No, it would be against the regulations for conservation authorities: No person shall, in a conservation area, remove or destroy any soil or rock.

According to "The Misener Family" by Harley A. Misener: "Her [Sarah's] fiance was killed at Lundy's Lane. After the war, she married Hugh Sharon against her mother's wishes. They moved to the Talbot Settlement near Frome, Elgin County, where they cleared and farmed 200 acres. They are buried in the church yard at Frome.

I have heard that in some places planting miscanthus could override giant hogweed. Indeed what I realize in my yard is that miscanthus chokes everething else and spreads quickly. I noticed too that miscanthus do not reseed itself but propagates just by root runners. You will be invaded by miscanthus but at least, miscanthus does not inflict third degree burns. I think that miscanthus could also help with phragmite.

Unfortunately, that is an invasive plant, so we can't recommend using it in that way. It causes its own issues and harm to the environment.

Its a shame as when at full height and bloom it really is an amazing plant to look at. Completely understand why, but still it is a looker!

I love this watershed/swamp. I live on the grindstone, and I've been replacing the lawn with a diversity of native plants.
