Where did you find this railroad museum because I never been in a sd70ace thundercab

I had the HO scale walthers proto #2005 patched cotton belt GP60. One of the best if not the best made Ho Scale DCC equipped locomotives. Cool stuff!

I haven't quite forgiven the UP for giving up the 3985 Challenger. And the 3985 is the only 4664 in the world other than one that is on static display. She was an incredible engine and would have been a wonderful addition to their steam program.

I operated that SP Geep 9 at Portola . I was booked to operate the F7 but it broke down (overheatring|) just as it was my turn so I operated the SP Geep ibstead. That was in 2018.

Michael, you are not gonna belive this, but back when i first watched this video, i thaught they were actually gonna restore it and i began telling other people that this was true. Then i recently looked when this was uploaded. I feel like an absolute idiot now 😑😂

Is that an original control stand? We have a GP-9 at my local historical railroad that came from the CNW. It’s got a 26L stand and used to have dynamic brakes but they were unfortunately removed before we got it.

Maybe use NTSC-QT

Put those gloves on so you don't get those pretty hands dirty. I ran a few GP9's Northern Pacific and didn't need gloves.

Sure cannot see a darn thing that is ahead of you. Was that not a crazy design flaw? Am not knocking the GP 9. She was tough ol' locomotive. But the whole forward vision was a blind spot. That must have made her very difficult to engineer.

4:34 both examples are different cases. The Southern Pacific didn’t paint the boiler is because of they don’t want to waste time cleaning the boiler. Meanwhile the NS one is pointing less because it original design. Unlike CSX where they trying to combine two different schemes.

I agree, CSX can't do anything right with heritage units. Fade to the present is not heritage unit material.

Exactly.

Bro be glad they’re doing it at all. Csx could just ignore their constituent companies heritage. CSX cares a lot about their branding and this is likely the only compromise we’re going to get.

@@jonathanlafferty2271CSX doesn't owe you, me, or anyone a heritage unit. The fact that they've decided to make them is to show appreciation for people like you and me. It's a gift. Who cares if the front has CSX? At least they're painting the back half (the part that demonstrates the paint scheme the most).

I think it’s going to be emotional to light her up for the first time in over 10 years! I do have an idea hear me out on this I think if they loaned out 3985’ whistle to be put on Chesapeake and Ohio 1309. They could raise money toward her rebuild!

In my opinion CSX's Heritage Units definitely look unique and i also find the fade concept very clever and something different compared to railroads like Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern
