This add on was so freaking cool and ahead of it's time. It was pretty much the founding father of game streaming. I'm so jealous to all of the japanese gamers in the mid to late 90's that got to experience this wonderful world of BS Zelda, digital magazines, free game trials and all. It took a hell of a lot of trial and error to get this to work, you needed a satellite dish atop your house, (Which many people in Japan don't have since it's mostly apartments and dorms due to dense population) a kit from St. Giga to communicate with it, an SFC, the Satellaview, and the BS-X cartridge. But boy was it worth the money and trouble from what i've heard... If only I was rich, living in Japan in the 90's, and growing up on SNES
@nore5888 Жыл бұрын
pretty sure sega did this way earlier
@mystraunt2705 Жыл бұрын
I cant imagine a lot of japanese gamers got to experience this like at all. The physical addon was expensive, pretty sure there was a monthly fee to use it, you already mentioned the need for a satellite, broadcasting things at specific times only for like 2 hours is stupid, and for what, texture packs for already released games? Most changes were only visual and the things in game that were different were pretty minimal. In my opinion even if I lived in japan in the 90s and had the money it seems like a raw deal and a waste of time.

But the ultimate question remains, could you also sent high scores of certain games to share it with other sattlelaview users via a scoreboard??? It would be interesting to know if you cannot only recieve data but also sent data trough the sattlelaview to share it with the rest or with nintendo,
@GunnerSiIva2 жыл бұрын
Not via the console, it’s like TV with a satellite, you receive but you can’t send

The Satellaview didn't have a public leaderboard, but you could send in your high scores to Nintendo and receive prizes depending on how you did.
@johneygd Жыл бұрын
@@Taneuma_563 well i did a search trough google and as it turns out while it is true that onlile multiplayer is impossible on the sattlelavie due the one way nature of radio connection,however it was possible to send limited data back at certain times back trough the radio connection by alternating between recieving and sending data so let’s say that if on 16:00 till 18: AM it broadcasted data then during that period you couldn’t send data BUT after 18:00 AM till let’s say 20:00 AM you cound send limited data back to the sattlelaview service due the free bandwide availibility for it ,it’s like walkie talkie wich works in such a way lije this in wich the person has to wait to speak after the other person has spoken before it is his turn😁
