In a lot of places, that's a good way to get shot. We have a pretty large homeless community. When the sun goes down, they pretty much take cover for their own safety. This scenario doesn't sound plausible where I live.

And yet, that’s not what happened which was the wonderful surprise of two people seeing each other as people.

Yes, but, be careful. I live somewhere with a large homeless population, some are just people down on their luck, some just prefer life this way, some are druggies and some have mental disorders. Not all homeless people are dangerous, but not all are good and safe. Sadly where I live there are a lot of scammers too. I really appreciate this act of kindness, please everyone continue to spread kindness but do it safely. Watch for body language and trust your gut instincts, if something feels off it might be.

That’s fair, and is probably an accurate description of where I live too. I was definitely aware of my safety, and that’s why I appreciated so much how he interacted with me and maintained respectful space. Wisdom and compassion can go hand in hand.

The State together with the media sow the seeds of fear and distrust leading to hate and despondency. Let's start there and shut off their funding until they can provide a narrative supportive of a better society overall.

People tend to have similar reactions in the U.S. where I live, so it’s fair to say it’s broader than media and government. And in fact my point is that it’s much more powerful to see people as people rather than categories, and that’s best accomplished face to face.

So what is your story? Because you don’t come off as a local. What brought you to the UK?

Yes, I was traveling for music, passing through after a songwriting retreat.

There are a lot of good homeless people trying to get by day to day. However, listen to your instincts because your body often knows danger before you do. Be kind but also use your best judgement

Yes, indeed. Wisdom and discernment go hand in hand with truly seeing people.

I had a similar experience in Manilla. A very poor looking man gave us directions to the waterfront and then told us he needed to get formula for his baby at home. Obviously I assumed he was lying and just wanted to buy beer but I still agreed. I put my hand in my pocket to get some money but instead he took me by the arm and led me to a local shop and took me right to the baby formula and grabbed the little container but I told him I'd buy him the bigger one instead. My view of the world changed that day.
@beckyboyland8 ай бұрын
Yes, it really took me aback that he asked for food and not money. I was grateful to be able to meet an immediate need, and also to see he may have had other good support in that neighborhood.

Yes, but when you have kids, you can justify it, in the name of good parenting! Just make SURE they only get to have your interests! 👍🏻 (Just kidding! Im the eldest child of two eldest children . What is "playing"? What are "toys"? And, I did not restrict my precious child. It is a happy accident that my kid loves the same things as me... ...as an adult As a kid, if I liked it, my kid HATED it. And, that was just fine. My kid aint a mini-me. Well...kinda he is. But, only as an ADULT-- _NOW_ --after a childhood free to do & be what _HE_ wanted. ❤️ JUST AS IT SHOULD BE.)

Theres this brand that makes shampoo bottle almost exactly same as conditioner. The difference is that the text colours are different and the bottle top is at different ends of the bottle. I bought the conditioner instead of shampoo more times than id like to admit
