It's been 13 years since the original game came out and that's nothing to scoff at as I was 7 at the time and now I am 20. In between that time Sega has been trying to chase the success of Generations numerous times and in all the wrong ways like bringing back old stages along with Classic Sonic which is pretty ironic because despite being that original design's big return to the series, it was still modern Sonic game and it showed with two examples being how Classic Sonic only has two boss meanwhile modern Sonic has four along with the badniks having modernized designs and not the original ones. Nonetheless Shadow Generations is the opposite of the Genesis wave of nostalgia baiting but humorously only came to be because of the third Sonic Movie so this isn't even really for old fans but instead new ones that come from the movie which doesn't really make sense as it references tons of old games which Sega isn't selling anymore. To go along with that inconsistency Shadow Generations is an incredibly inconsistent experience with it not even being consistent with the original Generations so this isn't like the long awaited Generations DLC the people were waiting for along with them spitting in the face of modders so you can't even play the original fan made downloadable content that was made for the game because I guess Denuvo just has to be in every single Sonic game now which makes it ironic when Sega acts like they care about the modding community. But I digress, back onto the topic of Shadow Generations inconsistent. There's only three learned abilities that are actually worthwhile but one of them is pretty much a Super Form and the other one is barely used other than in white space from what I remember. The other two abilities are horrifically gimmicky and are barely in the game but despite that ruin two boss battles that are centered around them for some reason. I have no idea why they couldn't just have Doom Spear and Doom Blast as regular parts of Shadow's kit because this is literally only a extra game stapled onto a pre-existing one so you would think that they wouldn't need more padding but the quantity of levels in the game, the reliance of 2D which doesn't even make any sense because of inconsistent this game is to the original Generations, and how you have to beat every single mission to even be able to play the boss battles shows that they did everything in their power to pad this game out. The only thing I can think of that is consistent with the original Generations is Shadow Generations' lacking story which is just the plot of Shadow the Hedgehog once again and nothing really interesting happens with it. It would have been nice if Mephiles was the main villain because what they did here with him was really interesting but no, he's just one boss out of four and instead Black Doom is back to do the same thing over again. Anyways to wrap this up I feel like bringing up the Sonic Generations remastered part of this bundle. There is an all that much to it with the chaos I guess being a neat addition but other then not everything else just reminds me of how different Sonic has become since I was younger. That makes me sound incredibly old but I just don't understand the need to change stuff like Rouge's design along with Tails' and cream's chilling dialogue about how it felt being frozen in white space to be more tame as example if things haven't drastically changed with the direction the franchise is going. That doesn't really make sense as Shadow Generations is this game's selling point but at the same time that does remind me of how in the "Shadow's story" recap thing they didn't show the GUN agent with a pistol for some reason but also have the box art of Shadow the Hedgehog as an unlockable piece of art in that game.

Doom morph and doom surf aren’t even horrifically “gimmicky”. I’m sorry, but if you’re having trouble with either of those abilities then that’s purely a skill issue. Doom surf I’m genuinely not even sure how any one can even have trouble with because that’s literally just a surfboard ability. Doom morph is a little hard to get used to, but after you get it it’s pretty easy to use. Padding? What do you mean padding? The game is pretty short and has the exact same structure as generations, minus the rival fights. Those boss keys and mission gates you complain about in shadow generations you also has to do in og generations, so I’m not even sure why you’re making it sound like this is some sort of new problem sonic team invented to pad the game out. Also to be quite frank, the mission gates are pretty short and are still fun to play. I’m not sure why you’re acting like this is sun and moon levels of padding from unleashed, because it really isn’t. The story is a rehash of shadow 05? I mean, maybe? Idk would you say that that the stories of sonic 2, cd, 3k, mania and superstars are all just rehashes of sonic 1? They all tell the same story at the end of the day. Either way though, the story is certainly more there than og generations. I personally think interesting things DO happen, the reappearance of Maria and Gerald or the realization that black doom is gaining power as shadow gains power, but whatever. Reliance on 2d? What are you talking about? For one, the 3d levels in this game are all fully 3d. There’s like 7 of them on top of that compared to the 5 fully 2d levels. I get wanting the game to be FULLY 3d, but that doesn’t change the fact that what we have with this game is the most 3d the traditional boost formula has been ever. Not to mention the fact that the white space hub world is also fully 3d.

It's a "skill issue" to not like the parts of a Sonic game that don't feel like one and don't add anything to the game, if they were these amazing abilities then they would have been used more then just their use in one left each. Sonic games needed to have padding added to them so that they wouldn't be too short starting from Sonic Adventure and that's not even necessarily a bad thing but in the Shadow Generation I do find it bad case of padding not only because of how much there is but also because it's a extra game bundled with Generations which already has padding in the form of Classic Sonic. The challenges were already padding in Generation but at least they didn't make you do every single one of them, from what I remember Shadow Generations has less challenges but even still, I'm sorry that I don't like the padding in a video game that I spent money on. It doesn't matter if it's better then "this other case" it's still padding and you're missing the bigger picture of just how padded this game is while going at my throat for saying I don't like a game you do. "has the exact same structure as Generations, minus the rival fights." that's a lie, there's only two levels then a boss along with how you have to do every single and this game does not feel as long as Generations. The game has way less levels (9 vs 5) and that's a fact so I don't know what you're even arguing about here. Yes I would say Sonic 2, cd, 3k, mania and superstars are all just rehashes of sonic 1 but for some reason you left out Colors and Generations which both were in development at the same time from my knowing and both try to do a more classic style story with their twists to that story feeling so half baked. Also Sonic's story in SA, the hero story in SA2, and Sonic's campaign in 60 are all lacking because they just follow this same template of Sonic 1 but that doesn't mean they are bad. I just think it's tradition but Shadow 50 you have to remember came out I don't know, 19 years ago so them doing the same story once again feels way worse then all those other cases because of how long it has been. Also I love how you're treating me as if I'm ungrateful that a 3D Sonic can't be fully 3D even in its additional content that it's bundled with. Having 2D stages can't be for consistency reasons because not only does the game not look like base Generations graphically but also Shadow has a double jump instead of an air dash, white space is fully 3D, and etc. The only reason why they added 2D was to pad out the game, I don't know why you're defending Sega from criticism to this extent when they're a company and not your friends. I'm not even trying to change minds here, I just don't like the game but Sonic fans are so annoying when someone doesn't share their opinion.

Most of what your complaint about here I just think is petty or skill issues if I’m being honest. They are fair complaints, but ones I don’t really agree with. I don’t care about the 2d this game has, and no, those levels aren’t padding. Is everything padding to you? how are the 2d levels even remotely padding? Just say you’d rather have a fully 3d game instead because those 2d levels are just as apart of the game as the 3d ones. The doom powers I all like. I find all 5 of them great extension of shadows abilities. The two you don’t like, doom morph and doom surf, all have their own moments in the game. It’s not like you use them once then never again, you use them a bunch of times. Doom surf you use in kingdom valley act 1, sunset heights act 2, metal overlord fight and all over white space . Doom morph you use in chaos island acts 1 and 2, mephiles fight, white space and in the final battle against black doom. You also use these abilities in the challenge gates sometimes. These 2 abilities I genuinely love and think are great extensions of shadows abilities, especially doom morph when you actually learn how to use it. This is MY personal opinion of course, but many people share my sentiment. The challenge gates are technically padding, but I personally don’t mind them. For one, they are short, and for 2, I find them fun, engaging and challenging mini levels. They don’t take away anything from the game, in my opinion, and I find them an enjoyable experience. The story I also think is pretty good. Is it a similar story to the 2005 game? Yeah, a bit. But there’s still difference there and I find it a much more engaging tale that actually makes me like black doom more. The game doesn’t have the EXACT same structure as generations, but it’s pretty damn close all things considered. Go through levels, do challenge gates then boss fight, the only thing missing are the rival battles. Also, yes there’s less levels, but the levels in shadow generations are longer than sonic generations. I’m not defending sega, I’m defending a game that I find genuinely great. I’d do that for any game I actually like.

Hi, thanks for playing my fan game! Yes, I am the author of a fighting fan game called Variable Geo vs. Asuka 120% if you don't know. I was very pleased to say honestly, I am only glad that there are such guys who watch and try other and little-known fan and indie projects. By the way, about Sonic in this fighting game, I added him just for SAGE 2024 as an exclusive guest, when I was making this fan game, I came across some talented guys who make fan games for Sonic Rush, I may of course be wrong, but one of the examples I recently saw was the fan game Sonic Rush 3D. And so I decided to add them just for this theme and this exhibition, even after development I jokingly wanted to make a separate version, where in addition to the main ones, there will be guest characters from Sonic Rush and other Sonic franchises, but then I decided to leave it as a local meme for myself and for others. This fan game that I made is the last (possibly the last) project made on Mugen, since I want to concentrate and try to make a game on a different engine with a different game genre. And I myself am already tired of it, but the game engine is cool as for me. This version that you played was not the only one, in parallel with it I also made the original version of the fan game, where there was neither Sonic nor Blaze, and I wanted to put it on the page with the game, but on which platform I can not say. Once again, thank you for playing, despite the fact that you did not get acquainted with the move list of characters, but in the future I will make a video about them demonstrating special moves. Hey thanks for checking out Tricky! The trial version of Breezy Bluffs does have setpieces modeled after Autodemo Windy Valley, but all assets in the game are original. In the future I'm going to be pulling in more inspiration from NiGHTS as well as the Artisans levels from Spyro 1 so it's not just a clone of Windy Valley.

I mean if you want to get into a contest of splitting hairs, Doom did not launch with mod support. People hacked the game and created editors -- that's why one of the first scripting systems is called "DeHackEd." Doom Engine Hack Editor. If I remember right, some of the very first Doom mods were actually considered illegal and it took over a year before id actually embraced the modding community.

Hi, just saw you played my game, ROLLING BALL GAME DX. I want to apologize for the lack of controller support in the current demo. We were a last minute entry for SAGE so unfortunately we weren't able to get full controller support implemented in time as we had to focus on other aspects. For example, the tutorial level was scrapped together pretty last minute for there to be an easy level for demo players as the rest of them are intended to be around mid game. Unity automatically allows controller support for the movement without having to implement it manually so that explains why you're able to move with a controller even though technically the demo doesn't officially support it. Thanks for playing. :)

I just noticed that I wonder if KDiKDiZD can be run on KEX, I remember GZDOOM having a lot of problems with it. The great thing about KEX Port is that when future masterpieces in the MBF format are released, they will be immediately playable in the official port. (and it happens every year) We can quickly sink them into the bottomless pit by promoting the new MEGAWAD information on social networking sites to the GUYs who are stuck in the console port. Everyone is into Legacy of Rust right now, but it is a tremendously powerful weapon and the community should put it to better use.

Long live Gzdoom. I have mixed feelings about this new KEX edition. It may be easier and ready to run for people not used to mods but they could have done more, like improve the textures, or adding better upscale features. They have a mod "workshop" but it's not convinient to navigate. At least it's more friendly for the multiplayer part, again for those who are not used to Zandronum. They should have packed the gzdoom engine, with ready to use multiplayer options, Andrew's soundtrack, the achievements, the new wad, and a workshop for the wads and mods. That would have been perfect.

I don’t think they want to work with the notoriously weird, closed source GZDoom developers. KEX engine makes sense ditching Unity + Nightdive already supports Doom 64 and Quake with their engine so it just makes sense. They needed to replace those awful Unity remakes eventually, i'm just thankful it came alongside new mod assets I don’t think anyone will defend the 2019 releases, but remember. No controller rebinding, local multiplayer only. In the 21st century? That’s just disheartening.

@@MIITRINNot exactly, GZDoom IS open source and commercial games have been made with the engine (see Selaco). However the terms for using GZDoom/ZDoom in commercial products are quite strict (Selaco’s developers barely managed to implement Steam achievements while staying within the terms) so it’s understandable why Nightdive wouldn’t bother with it. Sad, but understandable. Boom was much more permissible with what its source code could be used in, hence why it’s supported.
