It's a Yescom 225 white, however, they have gone out of production form Yescom. 😥 I'm very sad about this. So I'm still looking for alternatives that are as inexpensive as the 225s were. So far, everything is at least 2-3 times more expensive. But so far, I've narrowed my search down to Vivosun, Mars Hydro, or Spider Farmer panel lights. They all have much better features than the old Yescoms, put out as much or more light as the Yescoms, but, like I said, at about 2-3 times the cost.

@@pinecone.jeff.carnivores I'm full commit making this happen lol. How did you mount the wire grid panel in the back. Do I use the existing screw in the back of the cabinet with washers to tighten down?
@pinecone.jeff.carnivores2 ай бұрын
@@michaelm6712 So I the grid comes in two square panels. I tied the two together with zip ties. The two cover about 3/4 of the height of the cabinet. If you want 100% coverage, you'll need to cut a 3rd panel to size. To mount it, I used two magnetic hooks and just hooked the grid up. That's all that's holding it up. If I want it to hold more weight, I'll add more mag hooks. But so far, I've not needed it. Plus, I'm not sure I even needed the grid panels TBH. I've only hung a few things to it. I thought I was going to hang a lot more things on the grid.

Hey! I was just wondering how your setup is coming along. Been looking into doing it myself, being based in Norway I don't have many options for lighting so I'll have to import from abroad so just want to make sure I don't buy anything that won't be good enough. I've considered going for the Barrina lights you've linked in the sheet. Have you made any significant changes since making this video?
@pinecone.jeff.carnivores5 ай бұрын
Hi, the cabinets are doing well! I’ve switched out my Barrinas for Yescom white panel lights. I like the white lights much better and my plants seem to like them. Unfortunately, Yescom has discontinued them so I’m looking for replacements when my Yescoms deteriorate. I’ve also changed the heating. The reptile ceramic heaters were scorching plants that got too close to the heater. :) So I tried using 2 seedling heating pads in each cabinet and they seem to be working well to keep them nice and warm. 80F days and 60F at night. I really should update the spreadsheet. :) Thanks for watching and asking about them. I’ll have to do an update video.

Hi Laurence! We should! And since this update, I have 15 more pings in my collection! I need to do another video update as I've added more of those wire grid things to the sides of the cabinet and more of those small, wire hanging shelves (its where the pings go now). I moved my Cephalotus out and they're now sitting next to my desk under their own Yescom 225s along with all of the Drosera capensis I have. U could definitely have some heliamphora a heterodoxa x minor would do great in those conditions, I would be careful with the high humidity and the cephalotus, seems like you have good air circulation but still cephalotus don't ever get above 60% humidity max in nature it's usually like a stable 50 all year round, just saying as I was always under the impression that they loved humidity, beautiful setup and happy growing p.s looks so much better than most people and the growtents..

Interesting that you chose an Ikea cabinet instead of a grow tent, but as aesthetics go it's definitely more pleasing. The Govee is not wifi enabled for remote monitoring, you have to be physically close to it to send the info to your phone? I was just shopping around for a grow tent so this is helpful at the right time . Great color on the plants too!

@AT-iu3ye Жыл бұрын
Nice setup:). Do you still go in and water you nepenthes or do does the mister keep them hydrated ?
@pinecone.jeff.carnivores Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I still need to water the Nepenthes, about every 3 days or so. They still dry out even in 70%-90% humidity. The fans do a great job of keeping the air moving inside. In fact, I've had to slow down the fans on the sundew shelf cuz those little USB fans were drying up the dew!!! But the Nepenthes shelf is getting plenty of air flow and the humidifier blows right up into that shelf. Surprisingly, all three shelves have relatively the same temps and humidity levels because of the fans. I have one fan on each shelf blow air from below up into the next area so that really helps circulate the humidity and heat. I'm lucky I live in Northern California in the Bay Area (Marin) and we get cool evenings even in Summer so I get a nice 10-20 degree drop in temp all year round. I'm thinking about doing an update on the cabinet now that the plants have established and grown in. I've also had to make adjustments to my sundews as the Yescoms might be too beefy for some of them. So I've moved them under the little shelf I have and they're now sending up new leaves full of dew. Phew! Please let me know if you have any more questions. I'm learning as I go too but it's been totally fun!
