Once salmon always salmon not sure why people are so crazy about steal head try Atlantic salmon fishing !!

Mostly because Atlantics are more than slightly rare on the Pacific side...thats why. Like looking for Steelhead on the Gaspe peninsula. Thats why. =. )

I strictly spey fish salt water surf, i can't do any traditional techniques. Have to use the double haul without hauling with the hands, i can send out 100' and flip a heavy fly pretty much anywhere i want, and i was surprised how accurate i have become. And i cant fish all day as whit my single handed im done after 1hr because my shoulders are done fighting the louisiana cost winds.

29:35 The torpedo line is a 1950's line, not 1800's. The English didn’t use 12’ rods and short/fat lines in the 1800s. This is completely wrong and nobody ever wrote that.

thanks Bruce for getting me in the game and giving me so many lessons. Steelheading with a long line here on the Skeena, but love the long line. Chances are waaaayyyyyy against me in April, but a chance nonetheless . . . I get that some don't get that.

Awesome video. To the question "if you had to fish only one fly, which one...", John Gierach had the best answer ever: "I wouldn't fish."!

Something is wrong with music? Interfearing with interview and plus video shrinked in the middle
@Kirkgilchrist_TLF9 ай бұрын
Hello, I'm the producer of this, I have watched it twice now on KZbin and have no sound issues on my end.🤔 As for the aspect ratio change that was a choice I made and is intentional. I hope this helps.

Beautiful portrait of the man who's made the rods of mine which give me so much joy and pleasure to fish and own; someday very soon I'll make that Mecca trip to see him again in that workshop where all those marvels start and finish.

I so thoroughly enjoyed this. Deeply insightful. I fished the Sacramento River yesterday after rainbows. My only catch was a Sacramento Pike minnow. They literally stink and don't fight all that well (though this dude barely fit in my net and gave me a moment of thinking I had a great fish). But I got to stand in the water waving my magic wandoo (SF Giants fans will get the reference). So that, coupled with this film's inspiration has me chomping at the bit for next time. It's always informed by last time but inspired by next time. There's my reflection on fly fishing culture!
