Being from Michigan I feel like I owe it to the fish that was brought here from your tributaries to go to their wild waters if not to fish at least see them . I’ve only got one fish here this winter on the swing, it’s been tough . The knowledge you guys have is amazing and I could listen to you for days Ps I know most PNW anglers don’t think Great Lakes fish are steelhead . I promise they are , they look and act just like ocean steelhead.

This guy steelheads. I love the implied sentiments about flyfishing culture 😅. Swung fly steelheading is its own thing as far as I'm concerned. I love to see someone else out on the river yarding on their fish. There are SO many guys who are in love with "the culture" around fishing, yet are standing in a 70 degree river fishing a 5wt using light tippet fighting fish until they are dead so they can post a picture on their facebook. Completely missing the point.

What a wonderful film! The remarks about the culture of fly fishing are so profound and deeply felt, and unpretentiously expressed.

Mostly because Atlantics are more than slightly rare on the Pacific side...thats why. Like looking for Steelhead on the Gaspe peninsula. Thats why. =. )

I strictly spey fish salt water surf, i can't do any traditional techniques. Have to use the double haul without hauling with the hands, i can send out 100' and flip a heavy fly pretty much anywhere i want, and i was surprised how accurate i have become. And i cant fish all day as whit my single handed im done after 1hr because my shoulders are done fighting the louisiana cost winds.

29:35 The torpedo line is a 1950's line, not 1800's. The English didn’t use 12’ rods and short/fat lines in the 1800s. This is completely wrong and nobody ever wrote that.

thanks Bruce for getting me in the game and giving me so many lessons. Steelheading with a long line here on the Skeena, but love the long line. Chances are waaaayyyyyy against me in April, but a chance nonetheless . . . I get that some don't get that.

Hello, I'm the producer of this, I have watched it twice now on KZbin and have no sound issues on my end.🤔 As for the aspect ratio change that was a choice I made and is intentional. I hope this helps.
