Does it mean in your life as a radiologist, you will never do any medication prescription in the hospital setting?
@OmarDaher8 ай бұрын
Actually we give medications post procedures, like pain meds, nausea etc. But don’t expect to be prescribing blood pressure meds for long term use or anything ahah

no magical number, but i found that having multiple small things showed a decent interest, for example I had only 2 case studies and 1 small project when applying

Hi ! Is it better to complete residency in your home country or to complete the USMLE and start the residency in the US?

Really depends where you want to work! Completing your residency in the country you wanna work is usually the best way of doing it!

What are the longest studies to read and what is the average amount of time you can spend on one study?
@OmarDaher3 жыл бұрын
Honestly it really depends. A really bad post surgical abdomen CT can be horrible and long to figure out what’s gone and what’s reconnected, so for me I’d say those take the longest. The time spent on a scan can vary a lot, because on call you don’t have the luxury of spending so much time on a scan, so I’d estimate like 15 mins per CT on average, probably 5 mins per CT head. MRIs obviously take longer. Hopefully that helps!

Great video! You’re the first Canadian radiologist I’ve found on KZbin, and you’ve been really helpful! Thank you 🙏 i have a question about call shifts, how does the number of call shifts vary between radiologists who work academically or in the community, and in comparison between in the city or in small towns? Do some radiologists generally get high rates of call shifts while others get low amounts?
@OmarDaher4 жыл бұрын
Great question! Sorry I didn’t see this till now! Overall, academics is usually less call shifts and is fronted by residents, and community is more staff shifts. In small towns you are probably covering yourself whereas in cities there’s subspecialty body, neuro, IR etc, reading each study. Depending on the group you join the more or less call you get. There’s usually less neuro staff the body so they tend to get more call to cover and they only can have neuro covering. Body is a bigger group so maybe less. MSK helps with body, sometimes so does IR. Hope that helps! Maybe ill make a video about it too!

Finally I found a radiologist channel other than Dr.Cellini lol. Great video but what about the lifestyle and income? I think these two play the biggest factor in choosing a speciality and we would like to know more about the lifestlye and income of a radiologist compared to other specialties like internal medicine..

Hello doctor, I have a question: do you think it's safe to work as a radiologist (especially as IR) when pregnant? can the radioation amount harm the radiologist or the fetus? or is there enough protection? thank you in advance for your answer.

Great question! There’s a lot of protection when wearing the lead. However, you could always take on more diagnostic work during pregnancy also!
