Any advantage to printing stickers like these on UV vs on eco solvent?
@thevinylguysАй бұрын
@@garyguildea6817 the main reason we use the UV for stickers, labels and same day signage is that they are cured and dry immediately so we can laminate the straight away and get them cut and sent out. Prints on the eco solvent need to out gas for a few hours before they’re laminated. There are pros and cons to both print processes which is why we have both in the print room
@garyguildea6817Ай бұрын
@@thevinylguys I see what you mean. We’ve a vg3 at the minute and working around the time for out gassing can sometimes be awkward. It’ll be a while yet before we need another machine but I can see the use in having a UV and eco solvent as you mentioned. We’re planning on expanding into doing more labels and particularly more safety/warning labels & signage so always handy to know what process suits best and what process others use for producing them. I see you have a Roland flatbed, how are you finding the output from that?

The ink cart size limitation is a real shame. Love the front loading, and speed increase is nice. I personally found the BN-20 frustratingly slow.
@PryorPrints3 ай бұрын
Great video Carl...you reckon this is better than the BN20-A?
@thevinylguys3 ай бұрын
Thanks 👍🏻 overall we think it’s a vast improvement on the BN20 in terms of speed and functionality but that’s not to say the original BNs need to be quickly sold and forgotten. Like all Roland machines; if they’re looked after they can last for years creating some amazing prints and solid margins and pay for them selves over and over. Having said that if anyone’s at the point where they can make the decision between the two, then the BN2-20 is the logical one to go for

What material you used to make these safetly signs?
@thevinylguys3 ай бұрын
The board material is correx fluted board. Cost effective, lightweight and rigid enough to last the required time needed by the customer. We do also produce these using aluminium composite panels for customers who need longer lasting signage
@CustomiseIt3 ай бұрын
@@thevinylguys thanks for your reply.. Where to buy these boards from and how long does it last for please...also how to learn about signage materials?
@thevinylguys3 ай бұрын
@@CustomiseIt just google your local supplier for correx or fluted board. Depending on the print you put on them (eco solvent or UV and laminated or unlaminated) and the environment it’s used in, they can last years. Realistically in a construction environment they tend to be used for 3-6 months and replaced

do you cut section the lettering to help with the curve of the panel?
@thevinylguys7 ай бұрын
You can do on the rear panels depending on the van but sometimes if it gets cut down on the sides it can be to make the larger sections more manageable. We always use a good quality polymeric air release material which also makes dealing with panel curves a lot easier, especially for full coverage on the rear doors that have more complex curves (panels curve horizontally and vertically) such as a transit custom or transporter

Your videos help a lot, good job! I have a question, on the Roland VG3-540 is it possible to reduce the vinyl advance speed when the machine is reading the cut marks? as the machine is very quick to read and sometimes jams the material.
@thevinylguys9 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks very much, glad you’re finding the content useful. I’m afraid you can’t adjust that speed. It may be worth making sure you leave some extra material at the front of the job to prevent it catching on the cover or lifting when feeding when it’s reading the crop marks
@gumjidio48449 ай бұрын
My plate got bent and the screw piece broke off. I had to create a new hole, but the plate ended up a bit shorter. The machine could not read the pinch roller. By moving the little black pad forward, the machine is printing again. Thank you for the valuable information you provided and the time you took to make this video.
